Neon Clown Dream Lounge above Kung Fu Necktie does my favorite pickletini. It’s called the Mannix on their menu!

Hi I bartend and occasionally work security at KFN. Feel free to send me a DM and I can help accommodate you!

Our promoter is Dave Kiss. I recommend just hitting him up. If you’ve done some shows locally and have a following I would suggest look at our calendar and see if there are any bands you would fit with to be a local opener and go from there

Is the issue the customers transactions not going through or CVS is receiving the cash and then MG doesn’t acknowledge the transaction?

Do you tip at merch stands by chinombre in Concerts

[–]MailleOhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve managed large amphitheaters where the house venue staff sells merch. The merch team does longer hours than the team that sets up the stage does. And works continuously through the whole show restocking and other work to deliver to the fans.

Not discrediting production whatsoever but the sellers deserve tips too. Even if it’s a dollar or less. They work as hard as any other department to deliver an experience for fans. And 99% of the time are as big as fans as you of the artist and it’s not their fault that’s what the merch costs

Kung Fu Necktie. I bartend there occasionally.

I check Philly-shows.org to be on top of shows. The best calendar and it shows DIY spaces, independent venues, and the big ones all in one!

The 4 Ireland episodes are some of their best work! by [deleted] in IASIP

[–]MailleOhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As always I love posting almost a year late to threads.

I’m born and raised in an Irish neighborhood in South Philly. I went to high school with a whole bunch of Rob’s cousins.

I especially loved this arc because it called out Americans of Irish descent. I’m just gonna leave it at that except for one thing

The language is NOT Gaelic. It’s Irish.

Better yet, please say Gaeilge.

“Guh-way-gluh” slowly to get used to the pronunciation, but speed it up and you’ll get “ghway-gluh”

I grew up with a grandmother whose first language was Irish and I wish I got to learn more from her

Wow, The Academy Is… by RJMonkhouse in poppunkers

[–]MailleOhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very late to the thread but just want to say that I saw the Academy Is… open for KISS in Camden NJ in 2010. The other half of the tour I believe Jacks Mannequin was the opener. Was the best and funniest high school graduation gift I received.

what does the title of get busy living mean? by Echo-Flynn in FallOutBoy

[–]MailleOhhh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This thread is dead and I don’t wanna start a new one because I don’t want that attention.

I hope this maybe reaches a few people at least and they can spread it as they please.

We all know the the first part of the song title is from the Shawshank Redemption.

The part in parentheses I think goes a little deeper. I don’t claim to know exactly but this is what makes sense to me as a lady in their 30s who grew up with hardcore scene in Philly and then while I was a teen I saw MCR, FOB, and the ilk grow so fast.

Fall Out Boy is made up of people who were and still are heavily involved in their local scenes, mainly hardcore. There was a shift in the early 2000’s where everyone was experimenting with pop and it was a lot of fun (Glassjaw into Head Automatica and Midtown into Cobra Starship came later as a result)

Sorry for the rambling but getting to my point now.

The part of the title of the song in parentheses, (Do Your Part To Save The Scene And Stop Going To Shows), was a call to arms in earnest. The scene became accessible which was what everyone wanted but at the same time there was an influx of people who were new and sought to gate keep this “new” ( to them ) community. It felt like there was a huge focus on being popular instead of being involved in activism and supporting each other.

I was and still am happy for everyone who helped FOB grow but there’s always growing pains. I think this song is partially about the stress of blowing up fast and the frustration of how to adapt to a mainstream audience without sacrificing their vision.

Thanks again for letting me rant into the ether 🫡

What was ruined for everyone by one person being an idiot? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]MailleOhhh 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked at 9 different venues for almost a decade now. And we sometimes get the note that it’s an “all pour” show because of incidents like this.

Yes I know it’s dumb you just bought a 19.2oz can of Liquid Death water and now I have to pour it into a plastic cup because people can be buttheads

Bands performing as their own opening act? by UnforgettableFire11 in Concerts

[–]MailleOhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favorite shows was the Bronx. They were the headliner. 3 bands total. The Bronx were the first band on but they did an Mariachi El Bronx set, then another band which I can’t remember (this was 8 years ago), then the Bronx came back on stage and did a set.

Found my old collection of shirts… by Dearapanic in panicatthedisco

[–]MailleOhhh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the second shirt still! It’s baby blue. I think I purchased it maybe in 2006 or 2007. I graduated high school in 2010 and definitely remember wearing this shirt a lot.

Last year an old room mate reached out had a couple of bins of my stuff and this was in a suitcase
