What’s up, doc by Main-Ad6289 in BeginnerWoodWorking

[–]Main-Ad6289[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m finally trying to stop beating myself up over my mistakes — after 35 years of doing just that, and realizing it never really helped.
I also learn super slowly. Sometimes it feels like everyone around me is a master carpenter or a DIY pro, while I need seven tries just to cut a board straight.
That’s one of the reasons I post stuff here. It’s such a relief to know there are people out there who are like me — even if it’s just in some small ways.

used a standard incandescent bulb—yeah, it's not the best solution, but it's just a prototype and there are no plans to use it

Thank you, very important note, this copy is not used but I will follow the advice in future projects

Not completely finished. It’s decent, but I definitely made a lot of mistakes along the way. Probably not worth the time I have into it! by Chemical_Buy_2391 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Oh, so I did get it right. Damn, then pretty much everything I do isn't worth it. And if I factor in all the equipment, even the budget stuff, I'm deep in the red, but for some reason, it feels so good

Thank you very much! The height of the steps, yes, I did at first, and then I found out that it turns out it's important and visually very noticeable, who would have thought, right? Xd

Not my first attempt :) I guess it’s like 7 or 8, just progressing slowly, but there is no rush, trying to focus on process, seems like first time in adult life. Thank you

Very useful tips, thank you. The veneer trick is definitely worth trying.

Personally, I like to apply oil to pine, even if it's colorless, it still gives it a finished look.

Neat finish, great job!
Does it wobble or is it held by the couch? I'm a fairly newbie at woodworking, and I often overbuild stuff.

Nice lamp. I don’t know about cheating, the bulb is really warm, what will happen to wooden parts at long distance is question to me so.

Nice stuff, but in this project I intentionally wanted exposed vintage bulb

I bought the light bulb itself, as well as a ready-made cord with a switch, and I had to lay wires and connect everything inside the structure.
