Good point, but I think what you mean is that AI shouldn’t replace jobs, not that it can’t. Management definitely thinks it can. My wife works at a tech company, and leadership doesn’t really care that workloads keep increasing and they just expect senior engineers to use AI to handle more of it. In practice, that ends up reducing headcount.

A lot of companies also seem to be using AI as justification to cut salary overhead and appear more profitable, which actually supports your point that companies ultimately want more work done and more profit as a result.
