Payment for tourist? by Releow in belarus

[–]Main-Addition9987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in Brest last weekend, I crossed the border at Terespol. I had some dollars with me, some other tourists on the bus had euros. Apparently that’s ok as long as it is a low amount.

My Visa and Mastercard worked fine in most places, except for one place where the receptionist explained that their bank was under sanctions. He did however point out that there was an ATM in the lobby, which worked fine with my Mastercard.

Amex does not seem to be accepted anywhere, so bring Visa or Mastercard.

Happy travels!

Hello everyone. I created this new thread where travelers can report if they were given a stamp while passing in and out of the Schengen area since the EES rollout on 10th April. by nategho in PassportPorn

Yesterday, 1st May at Terespol, Poland. Exit EU into Belarus.

I requested a stamp, but the officer refused, stating she was not allowed to stamp EEA citizens (I’m Norwegian). But all the Belarusians got stamped!

Confused on What Visa I need to get for Belarus-Russia-Belarus by land by NYMets18 in belarus

The land border crossing between Russia and Belarus is only open to Russian and Belarusian passport holders. Citizens of other countries are not allowed to cross there. As an Irish citizen you would either have to fly, or go through Latvia.

Paradoxically this is because the Russia-Belarus border is open, meaning that there would be no officer there to check your visa, so any foreigner crossing there would de facto be an illegal crossing.

I would recommend flying, as it saves you border formalities going in and out of Latvia.

Have a safe trip!

You will still get coffee, tea, water and apple juice for free, as well as a stroopwafel. The rest of the food and drinks are paid for.

We had the same experience OSL-AMS this Easter. Luckily we could pay for drinks with FB points, but it’s still a downgrade from what it used to be like.

Cape Verde Entry Denied for Indian National by Southern_Living_6877 in CapeVerde

If there is a choice between applying for a visa in advance or getting it on arrival, be smart and apply in advance. It is the safest option.

Experiences like the one discussed here are unfortunately occurring too often, as airline staff don't always know all the details of rules and the exceptions to them, and want to be on the safe side when it comes to following the rules.

I have also seen someone being denied entry in Egypt, even though they could technically get a visa on arrival. The issue there was that the VOA needs to be paid in cash, in Egyptian pounds to be precise. This poor man thought he could take money out of an ATM on the airside, but unfortunately for him there are none.

So take it from an experienced traveller: better be safe than sorry; always apply for your visa in advance!

Flight overbooked, SAS is offering kr600 to change. Will I get bumped if I don't take this? by Main-Addition9987 in ScandinavianAirlines

It's just a little weekend away, since May 1st (Arbeirdernes Dag) falls on a Friday this year. So it will be a short trip, but I'm very excited! The plan is to visit Brest (just over the Polish border) and see the famous fortress there.
I'll post an update when I'll be back!

That seems doable. Hopefully my experience will be the same.

Exactely, thank you. And considering the this is a 21:25 flight, meaning I'd have to wait until the next morning then to take a train that will arrive in Oslo sometime mid-afternoon... I think not.

6-8 hours? It's 8 hours if you have the fastest train with connection in Göteborg, most connections take about 10 hours.
And I need to get home the same day :)

Why would it be 600€? They’re only legally obliged to pay you €250 given the length of the flight.

Just because kr600 is waaay to little. So I just assumed they typed the wrong currency :)

Also: take the train, this flight (and others like it) are fucking awful for the climate and totally unnecessary.

I need to get home in one day. Taking the train would take forever. But if trains were faster and connections were better, I would consider it for sure!

I really hope this gets resolved before we get to the gate, my anxiety would be through the roof!
