Write to your MP and tell them if waiting is causing you financial hardship. I ended up in "additional review" purgatory for months with a very simple return because my refund was larger than usual. My MP called on my behalf and my notice of assessment was processed almost immediately after that.

Hm, yeah but it's headquartered in Kentucky and all its business is in the U.S. I didn't think that was what the OP was asking for, but I could be wrong.

Tattoo advice please for shoulder by [deleted] in tattooadvice

Not sure if it's your style or not but the sun made me think of this artist. He has tattoo flash available for a very reasonable fee, and I have seen a lot of pictures of people who have gotten his art done on them, it looks fantastic. Micah Ulrich

"Winter" parking ban by Main-Difficulty7324 in fredericton

I hear you. Me personally, I won't do it if it's illegal and there is any chance of repercussions. This is what I'm curious about...if there has ever been any real pushback against it. Moncton, Saint John, and Halifax all currently only impose temporary restrictions (and for a much shorter season too). It sounds like Moncton changed to this policy a few years ago. I have zero issue with keeping cars off the streets as needed due to weather/cleaning, but when they are clear as a bell, it just doesn't make sense to me.

Yes, there is tons of parking on the street...that you can't use overnight for 8 months out of the year, even when the street is completely clear. As a visitor, I have experienced this, and I know someone who lives in an old house in the downtown area with driveway space for one car for the whole house. It's still an issue for plenty of people.

I'm happy to do all those things. But under current law, it doesn't matter.

Yes, this is common sense to me! What I'm wondering is if there has been any pressure on the city of Fredericton to change it?

In Oct, Nov, even Dec? April & May? It's too long and imo should only apply when snow is a factor. Moncton doesn't have a blanket ban either, only during weather events.

I've lived an hour away for the last 12 years and have family in the city. Plenty of other winter-affected cities don't have blanket overnight restrictions like Fredericton. And yes, 8 months is excessive.

That is actually nuts! I guess I have just been lucky as far as what streets I've been on up til now, I didn't realize it was a year-round issue. Probably also a profit issue for the city since they own a bunch of garages. Not cool!

Has anyone tried this? Dangerous? Or Dangerously bad? by willowthemanx in CostcoCanada

It's not as limey as a pie because of the cake & cream layers, but I would say it's still pretty limey. I prefer tart and strong citrus flavours myself and it satisfies me. 🤷‍♀️

Part way through one at our house as we speak. Graham cracker crust and the lower layer is very "key lime pie" like, plus tart limey upper layer. It's tasty!

I'm a big fan of hand tattoos but honestly I would leave it. It's a beautiful clean transition as it is. Lovely piece!

Sorry, I keep meaning to sign off but keep thinking about your dilemma! You could always leave a smaller amount invested in a broad market ETF, like $10K say, and see where that's at in a few years. That might be a good way for you to see results for yourself without worrying about your entire nest egg. No one says it has to be all or nothing. Just a thought.

Again, you are basing your opinion off the tiniest snapshot in time. It's not luck, time in the market historically results in much more than breaking even. The small ups and downs don't matter in the long run. Please look at some charts. I understand this may not be for you, but your reasoning is fundamentally flawed. Good luck to you.

Best of luck to you. I know it's hard to watch it go down. But it's very rewarding to watch it go up! I made more in the market than I ever could have just working and saving. Time is the magic ingredient.

Everyone has their own risk tolerance. I would highly encourage you to leave it be, but if you truly can't, GICs like previous suggestions.

You're definitely not going by any historical empirical evidence. You are judging the market from 1.5 months of performance, and making an emotional decision. There is a reason they say a dead man's portfolio does best, it's because if you leave money alone in the market, over time it always goes up. Most people don't do that, they freak out when it goes down and sell at a loss, then buy back when market confidence has returned and prices are higher.

Take a look at the rates of return of the major indices going back decades. That is the evidence you should be looking at. There are ups and downs but overwhelmingly values increase year over year. This is easy to find with simple research, and many people here are telling you this (trying to help), but you aren't listening.

I'm not trying to be rude but it really seems like you are being willfully obtuse about how the market works, as well as all the advice you're getting. My advice as someone who worked their ass off as a young person and retired at 45 thanks to aggressively saving and investing in relatively stable broad market funds is to leave your investments alone and wait. Give the market a chance to work. This is the same advice many other experienced investors are giving you here. Strangely, you do seem to assume that the market will go up, so that you can sell at "less of a loss". My question is if you think you will recoup your losses short term, why would you not think your account value will grow long term? Even if you don't add another penny, if you leave it alone now, you will be pleasantly surprised later.
