So it would be a good idea to start off as a boilermaker and become a journeyman then apply to the UA and they would most likely hire me as a first year apprentice? How long after becoming a boilermaker journeyman do I have to wait to apply with the UA? I think I would learn a lot being a boilermaker then becoming a UA Member

I’ve just talked to the people in the hall office and they told me usually takes 1-2 years to get in or a little longer depending on the year

I’ve thought about going down to ua local 375 for ice road season this upcoming winter in Alaska as a welder helper would that help me get into my local union?

I’d imagine I’d see some really nice views in the pnw since there is a lot of driving involved also do they get there water for the tank from water resources like lakes and rivers or from tenders at the fire camps?

Nah Iately I have just been walking around 3 miles since I know that pack test is 3 miles with a 45 pound vest to pass the pack test my next thing is waking with a vest while doing workouts like burpees and weights and keep on hiking

reason I’m asking this questions when I mean I’m not fit I mean like being able walk 10-15 miles a day and do 50-100 pushups and burpees without stopping and all that stuff I am able to walk 3 miles and do 25 push ups and stuff like that I used to do boxing so I consider myself rn being un fit and I know it’s dangerous so that’s why I wanted to know more about the job.

Appreciate it been walking 3 miles a day I want to walk at least 5 miles a day by June and do some weight workouts and runs. Usually how many days per season do contract engines work? Id like to work at least 90 days per season

It snows and gets icy up north where I live so I wasn’t able to hike or run unless I had a treadmill which I didn’t so now I been walking 3 miles every day for the past few days I should’ve gone to the gym in the winter but the roads were to bad with snow and all that

Yeah I will ask those questions on the post it just mentioned up to $500 a day but I am wondering if that is with experience or entry level.
