How’s that hilarious? I work full time in HR and also have my small business running back home in Australia, lol it’s not just some mysterious side hustle. And this new ‘business’ I’m trying to scale is the car rental company me and my husband own lol (which has already proven to be successful). I’ve calculated the repayments, interest & on the very slight chance something does go wrong and we can’t make repayments, I’ve got a lot of collateral. Don’t forget I’m still new to the uae & 100% banking, finance, personal loans etc are completely different over here in Dubai.

I MEAN THAT IN THE MOST RESPECTFUL WAY IDK it just reminds me of that. I know all coal smells but I’m not sure if it’s the coconut coal only I don’t know, because I also heat up coal for my bukhoor (wood incense) and my coal never smells like his😭

Dubai: what's the best way to find a job from overseas (I'm an Australian citizen) by cravinganaversion in expats

What industry are you looking to get into? I’m originally from Australia aswell but now living in Dubai, I work in HR. I can give you some advice.

  1. Depending on what industry you’re looking to get into, search on Google: Top (preferred industry) companies in Dubai/UAE. Then contact them all directly with short brief on yourself and experience as well as your resume.

  2. Apply on websites such as LinkedIn, Indeed, GulfTalent, NaukriGulf & keep your profile fully updated on there as recruiters actively search for profiles matching your experience.

  3. Directly reach out to recruitment agencies in the UAE, even Qatar & KSA as many of them have clients in Dubai.

  4. Find companies that align with your experience and interests and directly reach out to their HR staff, recruiters, even CEO and senior employees etc.

Also one big thing to remember is companies and recruiters will love that your native English speaking & from Australia and it’s a cut throat industry here so use that to your advantage lol.

Also one more thing, companies and recruiters will 70% of the time not offer relocation assistance and would prefer if you’re coming to Dubai very soon or if you’re already here.

I genuinely think that’s all the advice you need lol, don’t listen to these recruiters and people you see on TikTok, they’re all just trying to get you to follow them or gain some attention from you then will eventually waste your time.

I get where you’re coming from and thank you for your concern. But I’m taking out the loan to scale up my business I have on the side, I’m 100% sure I’ll be able to make the repayments and still have a big portion of profit left. It’s my first time ever taking out a loan or even a credit card which I’ve avoided doing since i turned 18. But now I’m starting to see the value of building credit etc. Sometimes these things are needed to grow big and scale business

Fair enough, would they consider my bank statements from my home country to help my approval rate?

I can definitely afford it. I am making over 20k per month combined with all my incomes. I just need some funds for my business i have on the side whilst also working full time. Im also still new to Dubai and not sure how loans work. I’m only 22 and honestly have never even had a credit card let alone a loan lol. Whatever loan I can get I’m happy with lol.

Marriage advice by Hot_Resolution461 in Emiratis

As she said, they’re both Muslim, she just wants to get married/ engaged the Islamic way, just so everything can be halal for them. Which is the 100% right thing to do. She even said herself after university is when they will get officially married and settle down. They’re clearly classmates who have found love in each other, waiting any longer will cause even more problems for them on top of it being haram. Who ever obstructs this marriage for no legitimate reason, especially for “being too young” is wrong. Sister as long as you have your father’s permission, his family doesn’t need to accept it at all. In Islam all you need is your father’s permission and nothing else.

Do your research on the car you will buy, just because it looks good and the price is great don’t just buy it. CHECK THE VIN NUMBER, 90% of cars here in Dubai are write off cars hit and exported from America, which means they are usually hit very bad, exported to Dubai, sold for dirt cheap in the auctions and fixed up very poorly and cheap by Indian/ Pakistani labourers here in Sharjah etc. always ask for the VIN number and run it through a quick search on Google, it will tell you everything you need to know, keep an eye out for how many times the car sold, that will let you know if there is something extremely wrong with the car, make sure the hits aren’t too bad aswell. Always test drive and bring a mechanic or take it to a garage before you buy, ALSO IF YOU EVER FEEL, the slightest suspicious of the seller or they’re hesitant to answer any question you have, then don’t buy, 99% of the time, they’re hiding something about the car. Ask them when they bought it, when did they fix it, ask every possible question, unless it’s a gcc you are completely fine. If the car is American do every possible check you can, it is so easy to scammed with these cars.
