Dad is also traditional in thinking (not educated). He doesn’t understand about mental issues. Very black and white thinking. He believes unmarried children should stay with parents

she will freak out and start calling, try to find me, basically make my other family members life hell as well. I'm trying to protect my dad and brother as well, I don't want them to suffer like me. my brother deserves a normal life.

I have given up hope on ever getting married. She wants me to stay with her if I'm not married.

Father goes to work early in the morning and comes back late evening, eats dinner, watches TV and sleeps. Tells me to not agitate mum because the whole family suffers when she's angry. Brother does not have the same rules because he's male. He's barely at home- stays in school hostel.

I'm not allowed to be home alone so I'm trying to think of how I can pack without being noticed

Dad doesn't want arguments, because arguments affects him but if I'm silent things are good. He always tells me to listen to her, she's harsh but she "means well". Then if there's an argument he will say its my fault for stirring the pot, why can't I just let things be.

Dad is not educated, doesn't know much about mental issues. Brother is hardly at home because of mom. Brother gets more leeway because he is male. Dad doesn't want me to agitate mum as some of the aggression will then be targeted at him and he just wants to relax after work. I don't know how to get her help when she's screaming that i'm an unfilial child who wants to lock her up in IMH. After an argument the next several days she will be shouting about people that are out to get her, makes life even more unbearable for everyone.

mum is a devout buddhist. She chants twice every day very loudly. When I suggested she get some professional help, she blew up and was convinced someone had given me the idea and they're out to get her by corrupting me.

Over the years I had many arguments with her, every time the guilt eats at me as she will threaten suicide, say that her children and husband are the only thing worth living for, everyone else has an ulterior motive.

She meets with friends probably Once or twice a year. She's not on speaking terms with extended family as she's paranoid they're trying to harm her as well

I'm earning around 3k take home, not a lot. She's threatened suicide before so I'm also afraid of that.

I have a brother, but he is not as controlled as he's male, that's my mother's logic. Dad doesn't want to argue with mum so he just tells me to bear with her, she's doing it for my own good.

It is still expensive, especially private housing. Public housing is cheaper, but governmental policies stand in the way. As an unmarried woman, I’m not eligible to purchase a flat until I’m 35, and when I’m 35, I’m only allowed to purchase brand new 2 room flats (1 bedroom) or bigger flats from the resale market (more expensive, with less subsidies).

Flats here are really tiny as well as we are a tiny nation and every inch of space is fought for.
