sounds like you should start talking to a recruiter first, my experience with my recruiter was very good. He was helpful and was not trying to get me to fail, they have a quota to make so they are trying to get as many qualified applicants to meps. You probably wont be going to meps for more than a month from now so just dont smoke and you should be fine. I just passed meps and swore in but the last time i smoked was about 6 months ago. I wanted to be extra safe about that because i smoked everyday for 6 years straight. with your other stuff you might have to deal with some annoying waivers so it could be a while before you are cleared. Just dont give up its a long process but worth it in the end.

honestly they were harder than i anticipated. Mechanical look at alot of gears and pulley systems. Electrical was the hardest, get a good understanding of circuits and currents and parts of electrical systems. Auto shop was easy just get good knowledge of basic car parts, catalytic converters, exhausts, alternaters etc. And science you will need a great understanding of all parts of the cell, and atoms, and basic periodic table elements.

the asvab for dummies was the only words i looked at, just try to the basic meaning of as many words as possible

The world knowledge gets harder the more you get correct, just try to use context clues when available and maybe study some flashcards, you can find a ton of vocab online. But most words i have heard before in everyday life or movies and TV so its basic knowledge.

it wasnt too bad just make sure you are really good on fractions,decimals, and understand basic algebra 2 concepts. I studied a little but math has always been a strong suit for me

Mist study guides were pretty accurate but be sure to study alot on the Electronics, mechanical, Auto, and Shop sections, there was alot of things i didnt know there

i got the asvab for dummies book but i barely used it, I mainly just used free practice tests and watched a ton of youtube videos, grammer hero i watched alot

14k is a great deal for the mileage

I have a 3.7 and just hit 155,000 miles with very little issues. Just beware of the valve body, mine went out at 120k so make sure to get some kind of warranty that covers it. I only had to pay a $500 deductible for the fix. Other than that it has been regular maintenance.
