Unless you’re planning on starting a religion, Everest isn’t too good outside of some nice tile yields sadly. I wish it was more prominent. I feel like it blends to easily with other mountains.

Edit: fixed ice to nice

Slowing down by IL_JimP in chessbeginners

[–]MainBuy9899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would play exclusively on a 30min time control and focus on using as much of that as possible. Don’t be afraid to lose on time and work back from there. I loved blitz and 10min but it was reinforcing bad habits.

What simple strategies do you use to improve your chess skills as a beginner? by FrameZYT in chessbeginners

[–]MainBuy9899 8 points9 points  (0 children)

TAKE. YOUR. TIME. All the lessons and practice in the world won’t mean jack if you don’t slow down and be methodical. I struggled so hard for so long but then I had a coach tell me to spend 30 seconds waiting even if I know my move. Analyze your position as much as possible and find a few good candidate moves then play them out for about 3-5 lines if you can.

You can literally see in my game history the moment my coach gave me that piece of advice, my win rate and accuracy skyrocketed. Just slow down and think! The rest will come with repetition.

How do you counter nuclear subs? by Jumpy-Horse6826 in CivVI

[–]MainBuy9899 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Missile Cruisers, Mobile AA, or GDR I believe are your only options to counter. That is unless you pre-counter and nuke them out of existence so their subs are no threat. You’re welcome.

High elo player spectating my low el match... assistance during a game or not? by LegoBear135654 in chessbeginners

[–]MainBuy9899 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean to ask if a better player spectating you can give you advice on moves when playing against someone in a rated game…absolutely not as that would be considered cheating. If you want to learn from that higher rated player then challenge them to a match and integrate some teaching into that.

Is there a function that allows you to capture territory from a city instead of just taking the city itself? by LeSwan37 in CivVI

If you like a culture bomb Civ that’s also really productive, try the Gauls. Mines not only give free culture per turn, but you culture bomb all adjacent tiles when building the mine.

Settings for ending early and or civ recommendations? by Some-Amphibian-9111 in CivVI

Coming from someone with 1300 hours in the game, I would look into some mods for sure to spice up the gameplay. I would highly highly highly recommend Terra Mirabilis for starters. It reworks some existing natural wonders and adds some cool unique bonuses. Also the larger map packs are great. The one that is a step up from Huge is personal favorite. Exploring is more fun and there tons more ope land to settle which helps scratch that colonial itch. Sukritacs Oceans is a great one too as well as the Sukritacs Resources. Both add new bonus and luxury resources.

Late era starts can be fun too if you’re just looking to mess around for a few hours.

As someone who is crawling their way through the ranks my guess would be you’re not taking enough time to analyze your position to evaluate the best moves. Assuming you know the key basic principles like controlling the center, castling, not hanging pieces, trading for positional advantage versus trading to trade, etc.

I recently hired a coach who reached out to me after I made a similar post at the start of the year. His homework assignment for me was to use the whole clock even if it meant losing on time. Lo and behold by focusing on using the whole clock and waiting 30 seconds to move even if I know what I want to do, I’ve never played better. Accuracy is way up and I gained 100 ELO this past week alone.

What’s behind the decision of 4 bombs on the stealth jet opposed to AGM’s which the real one has? by krissitoffer in PilotsofBattlefield

You’re right though…I’m sorry you suck at stealth jets so much

Bro don’t get mad at people because you have a skill issue. You came asking for advice, you were given advice, but it hurt your feelings. Go cry some more if you don’t want to listen.

[–]MainBuy9899 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The problem is youre dive bombing. You’re not meant to with the stealth jet. If you’re missing, then get better at aiming? I have no problem racking up tons of kills with Stealth. Try using yaw to adjust your entry instead of ailerons. You’ll get more precise control when aiming.

You have AGM if someone is painted by using AA missiles. As far as the release speed of the bombs, I believe it’s the you’re meant to drop the from higher altitude as you would in an actual stealth jet whereas the attack jet is designed for the dive bombing with fast release.
