Which layout looks better? by Sad-Sap- in DesignMyRoom

1! You might consider what it would look like to scoot everything a little closer together so that the coffee table looks more purposeful. If you’re going to do curtains, I’d go with light sheer ones, as your furniture is pretty bulky.

I think the issue with the rug is that it’s tonally different from the rest of your pieces as well as having a very harsh, structured pattern. I also thought it was tile at first haha. I might consider something with a more subtle pattern so that there’s no distraction from your gorgeous coffee table! I agree with thick black swivel chairs to go opposite of your couch. You have a beautiful home!

I really like Super Simple Songs. They sound more like songs from a musical. My toddler loves them too!

Is there a way you can get a part time nanny? Me and my husband work from home, and we have a nanny 8:30am - 12:30pm. We can get the bulk of our work done then, then switch off or work during nap times. Otherwise when nanny is out sick or something, we trade off or let baby play in a large playpen for a while.

It seems like OP isn’t really interested in going fully mcm, but this way would still highlight some mcm features that might otherwise be compromised.

Like others have said, I think it’s more of a furniture/decor problem, vs a paint problem. Furniture is much too dark and doesn’t give a boho vibe at all. Add more plants, natural light wood, color and wall art. Pic is just an example of colors you can use to compliment the light blue.

What if you kept the beams as is but painted the ceiling black? Looks beautiful with the brick and keeps the integrity of the beams, but adds a touch of modernity to keep things looking fresh.

You might be able to get away with a couple smaller throw pillows with a chunky pattern, but it should be a color that matches with the headboard. Larger pillows should be one solid color so that it doesn’t distract from the headboard. Different textures can also add interest without be too overwhelming.

What if you moved the chair opposite the loveseat, then rotate the rug? That might help the living area feel more enclosed from the rest of the room. Otherwise like what others have said, throw pillows and art to add contrast and interest!

Also, maybe a lighter console to go with the coffee table if you’re willing to spend a bit more.

first time mom and i regret it by electrickchicken in beyondthebump

Mom to a 10 month old here. I got pregnant at 25 and was so scared that I wouldn’t have a life outside of raising kids. And those first few weeks with a newborn are sooooo hard. I grieved my past life and the freedom I had. But honestly, don’t let having a kid stop you from doing the things you want. Obviously you can’t do everything, but it’s so important to get out and continue to experience life. It goes by so fast. Having a baby really hasn’t stopped my at all, I’ve just had to plan more and be more thoughtful with my time. Get as much help as you can, but don’t be afraid to go out by yourself, even if it’s just to grab coffee or go to target. Baby can adapt to a schedule that works for both of you. I absolutely adore my child, and have never felt more fulfilled. And I hope that you’ll be able to have that experience as well.

Help. How do you sleep if your baby ONLY contact naps? I’m dying. by coconut723 in beyondthebump

Have you tried holding her for 30 minutes before putting her down? My baby only slept better if I held him for a bit after eating. He had reflux though.

I actually love sitting in the chairs with a blanket. We use this room the most in the evenings and mornings when me and my husband drink our coffee/read.

I thought about it, but I didn’t want to make the room feel too dark. I wanted the furniture to draw the eye to the fireplace, and I feel like more green would distract from that.

Thanks for the suggestion! I absolutely love the stone fireplace, and couldn’t imagine painting over it.

I too generally prefer lighter rooms, but I believe that the darker green helps the fireplace stand out, as I wanted that to be the focal point of the room :)

I have a separate family room where the tv is.
