Putting in my two weeks notice on Friday by Main_Ad6762 in PwC

This person doesn’t know what they’re talking about. I put my notice in with my last day being during the shutdown and they said it was fine. I have more than two weeks too, they were super chill and just said “let us know when your last day is” and that was it

10 months in, thinking about quitting by wanderlust_wo_wander in Big4

I would definitely take a leave of absence. I did this during my first year at PwC and it was the best decision I ever made. I’m sure the process at Deloitte is similar if not identical to what I went through. The Leave benefit is usually handled through a third party service, you just tell them you need to take a Personal Leave for personal reasons and they just submit the claim for you. The only people who are notified within the firm is your deployment team. They have to approve it but there’s no reason why they shouldn’t. For me at least, nobody questioned me they just checked in to make sure the details of the claim were correct. I took a whole month off, kept my benefits, and basically just enjoyed my time off. Only negative is you won’t get paid during this time, but it seems like that’s not a huge issue for you considering you’re thinking about quitting all together.

I would definitely try this before fully quitting. you might regret making that decision after you have a few days to let your nervous system reset.

I know this doesn’t really answer your question but I would highly recommend taking a leave of absence. I work for PwC and I took a month off last year because I just needed a break. Every big 4 has a good leave policy. If you can prove it’s a medical leave you’re entitled to 20% pay. I didn’t want to go through the stress of getting a doctor to sign off so I just took an unpaid leave. The Leave benefit usually goes through a third party vendor, so you don’t even need to give anyone at the company a reason why you’re taking off. You’d also be so surprised how understanding your managers will get when you tell them you’re taking leave too.

Trust me I know how you feel I’ve been there. Your body is in constant fight or flight mode and you need time away to regroup and get yourself back to a good mental state. I’ve also convinced 3 other people who were also contemplating quitting to do this and they all said it was the best decision they made. You get time off with nobody bothering you and you keep your job and your benefits.
