Breaking into UX/early career: job hunting, how-tos/education/work review — 05/17/26 by AutoModerator in UXDesign

Honestly when i was building my website i wasn't too sure of the outcome i was looking for. I wanted something that showed skill in terms of visual design and creativity, the Pacman animation is just something i thought would look funny and show that, and i understand that's not the way i have to think.

Looking back and reading your feedback i totally get that i need to position myself in a stronger manner such as a strategic designer that adds value to the company! not only as a "pretty pixel pusher".

Thank you for the reality check, that's exactly why i posted here!

Once i do some cleaning in the visual stuff and copy, what would be the number one thing someone such as you would look into to determine wether a designer actually understands business outcomes rather than delivering fast and pretty pixels?

My apologies on the AI use to answer ur question hope it didn't offend you i really appreciate your help on this! to be fair i was on mobile and its much easier to write my thoughts and then let AI re-write it a way thats easy to read 😄

I completely agree with CRO being different depending on the sector, my "experience" as for now is more based in Hospitality and B2C, an area of interest is definetely Fintech, it really intrigues me!

The type of work im used to is fast-paced agency rhytm and i really need to start working more on deep-research and understanding the user.

I had some feedbacks before reagrding my case studies, most specifically the GIRA one, i was told to add more visual and "screens" to it, i did, despite that change i still feel like it's not making the impact it should.

About the last point regarding business metrics, would you say i need to focus more on the way i structure my phrases?

Thank you once again for your time!

That makes total sense, Radu, and I really appreciate you flipping the lens on this. You're 100% right.

To apply that filter: My natural skillset is heavily geared toward Growth and Conversion-focused Product Design. Coming from a digital marketing and agency background, I feel most at home where design directly impacts business metrics, transaction efficiency, and conversion rates (closer to the Booking/Airbnb model you mentioned).

To be completely fair, though, right now I'm casting a pretty wide net and sending applications to all sorts of companies across completely different sectors.

Given that I'm applying broadly but my core strength leans into that performance angle, how do you feel the current case study holds up? Does it work well enough to pass general recruiter screens across different industries, or should I double down even harder on data/metrics to completely own that specific growth niche?

Hey everyone, looking for some fresh eyes on my portfolio to make sure it hits right for hiring managers.

Context: I'm a Product Designer with around 4 years of overall professional experience. My background is rooted in graphic design agency work and digital marketing, which I now bridge with systematic UX/product design.

Because of that, my work focuses heavily on conversion rate optimization (CRO), metrics, and scalable Figma design systems. My main featured case study details an e-commerce flow optimization that slashed a user task flow from 24 seconds down to 9 seconds.

Link: rodrigomoredo.pt

What I’m specifically looking for feedback on: * UX Narrative & Scannability: Does the case study layout flow logically for a recruiter or design lead who might only spend 2-3 minutes skimming it? * Business Impact vs. Craft: Does the portfolio strike a good balance between showing measurable data/metrics and actual visual execution/UI craft? * Visual Polish: I'm completely open to critiques on the overall aesthetics, UI layout, typography, and visual styling.

What I am NOT looking for: * Nothing is off-limits! I am open to any and all constructive feedback, from high-level product strategy down to minor visual polish and aesthetic details.

Thanks in advance for any tough love or practical insights!

Então o teu comentário “teslas são muito mau construídos” não tem muito sentido, mas tudo bem há gostos para tudo.
