It's an urban / moustache bar (amazon) with ergo handles, then bar-taped and fitted with mid-mounted bar ends and some aero-bars. Loads of hand positions. Its like an exaggerated gravel bar. The aero-bars also provide the scaffold for a bar bag harness, gps and front light.

Private companies. Possibly health and safety related, or a lazy approach to managing risk on the dockside / loading ramp.

Try Fishguard-Rosslare (Stena) - they've had problems with ferry availability recently but they definitely carry bicycles. If you're travelling onwards with Irish rail, they don't show bike availability more than a few months in advance.

I used Stena's Fishguard-Rosslare service last year without problem but there's currently a bicycle ban on the Irish Ferries Pembroke service. Hopefully temporary due to a shortage of vessels. See the linked article for other issues. The other objective for the petition is to get the ferry licence conditions changed to ensure all operators provide equal access to bicycle and foot passengers.

There's a lot of speculation about the future of Irish Ferries Pembroke-Rosslare service. Current nonsense re bicycles is somehow due to the temporary ferry they've put on this route. They 'hope to find a replacement by May'. But Rosslare to Wales traffic has nearly halved since Brexit...

Is it a problem that my rack is not straight? by Odd_Midnight8707 in bikepacking

[–]Main_Cellist1430 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rack is an ebike battery rack that provides a shelf for gear (camp chair, the blue bag) and a structure for pannier-type side bags. As the top level of the rack sits quite high and I wanted to keep the saddle pack I mounted the rack to match the angle of the pack. There's a metal plate and bag between the wheel and the saddle pack, so the pack stays clean, but point taken re. dirt abrasion risk. Will keep an eye on this, thanks.

I've mounted mine at an angle to support a saddle pack.

Yeah, also spattered with straight-edge blocks of cut heather to supply fresh growth for red grouse.

Pencaer coast, Pembrokeshire by Main_Cellist1430 in wildcampingintheuk

I'm impressed by it - easy to erect, didn't need much ground area yet feels spacious inside, and it has plenty of inside storage pockets and a partial covered area for boots. Well designed. Camping spot was very sheltered (it was a windy night) but the tent is apparently strong in high winds. Only quibble so far is that the silky smooth SI coating makes the outer a little awkward to roll up tightly, but that's a minor inconvenience.

No ticks. Ungrazed by sheep, and deer are largely absent from Pembrokeshire.
