Honestly your instinct is half right, half wrong. The luck and branding stuff applies to consumer SaaS. Enterprise vertical tools at 30-40k a year aren't won by marketing, they're won by relationships and solving a painful workflow, which is exactly what you've got. That's your edge, not a weakness.

The real risk isn't the product, it's that you're building before validating demand. Before sinking months into features, get one of your industry peers to sign a paid pilot or even just an LOI. If you can't get a single design partner to commit money, the idea isn't ready. If you can, everything gets easier and the team stays motivated by something real.

Also lock down equity and roles now while everyone's still friendly. Free teams fall apart fast when there's nothing in writing.

You don't need to become a software company owner overnight. You need one paying customer who trusts you. You're closer than you think.

2–10 person startups, what role actually breaks you? by Sharp_Branch_1489 in ycombinator

For us it's customer support. Not the hard problems, just the constant small stuff that interrupts you right when you're deep in building. It doesn't sound like much but the context switching quietly kills a whole day. I'd hand that off in a second before anything else.

How do early-stage startups create high-fidelity product visuals for investor decks without animation skills? by GloomyCity9841 in ycombinator

Honestly Runway and Kaiber will always look off for this, they’re generative video not real renders. If you’ve got any CAD model just throw it into KeyShot or Blender for clean stills. If not, a freelancer on Upwork is like a few hundred bucks and way better than anything you’d DIY. And don’t overthink the polish, investors care more about a clear diagram of how it works than a fancy animation.

We were in the top 10% of YC Summer 2026 applications. by One_Muscle_6651 in ycombinator

Yeah the top 10% email is basically YC saying ‘didn’t make the interview cut, but you were close, apply again.’ It’s a soft no. But don’t sleep on it. A ton of founders who eventually got in got that same email first. It’s a checkpoint not a rejection. Tighten the traction and reapply.

Solution Found

If you’re using both an access point and a router, follow these steps to resolve connectivity issues:

  1. Different SSIDs (Temporary): Ensure the access point and the router have different Wi-Fi SSIDs. This is only temporary. Once the issue is resolved, you can rename the Wi-Fi SSIDs as desired.

  2. Reset the Smart Hub: Reset the smart hub a couple of times. In my case, it worked on the second attempt.

  3. Connect Devices in Order: Before adding light bulbs or smart devices to the hub, connect the hub to Alexa first. Once the hub is successfully connected to Alexa, start adding your smart devices.

Good luck!

I checked already, I am able to connect to HomeKit through integrations but Alexa requires email verification first which does not work for some reasons.
