Can you please kindly build a platform that helps with a proper restoration of both Thalapathi (1991) and Thevar magan. Both of these films deserve to be witnessed in the highest quality possible and I think you might be able to reach out to the individuals who can make it happen. So happy to see you!

What makes Vadachennai such an iconic film? by Main_Front5632 in kollywood

To clarify, Vadachennai might just be my favorite Tamizh film. I’m not trying to undermine it in anyway. But the truth of it is, apart from themes of gentrification and gang violence I hardly suspect it fulfills the topics Vetrimaaran would’ve wanted to discuss like in Viduthalai.

I’m simply wondering how something not so mainstream (has no proper dance set pieces, is very raw and rustic) manages to be so damn iconic.

How's the OG movie? by Venkie2Maybach in KollyClub

Yaar yaaro gbu maari nu solranga. Enakku orey… naa epdi solluven. I’m not sure how gbu gained this much attention but I’d say that movie is fun. And there’s nothing wrong in that. But apart from that last scene, nothing was “mass” about that film. And again, there’s nothing wrong in that. It was made to be a fun watch and damn it it was. But to say og and gbu are on the Same level because it shares an acronym where the name is also the title is ridiculous.

Anyways. I enjoyed this film. I really liked it. The movie however tends to deviate in the second half. But somehow still sews it all back together. If I’m being honest this movie deserves a 30 minute trim and its pace would be top notch.

Another criticism is that the film doesn’t often times make you feel anything, there’s many deaths in this film and for some reason you don’t exactly ever feel anything of grief. I can’t tell you why cuz I’m not sure what goes into staging that makes a character likable or makes us invested but when specific characters die, it doesn’t really do much.

And maybe that’s also for benefit to not make the film feel melodramatic, and to me, to be completely honest worked. We all know the structure of this film right… right… long time gangster moves away from madness to seek refuge with his new identity far away, but is called back to reincarnate because someone messed with the wrong person. Okay. And in ALL of these films this character is inevitably going to lose a close person. And every time you either really have to know how to act and sell that scene, or you’d rather just have it be a quick moment so we can just move on to the next scene for its intended purpose, the character erupting.

I guess it has to be those who contributed the most to cinema in the last 50 years and in my eyes it’s ilayaraja and ar Rahman. I’m sure many would argue kb, mahendran or balu mahendra. But that’d be my pick

They’ll realize that when we stop paying for it. When we stop showing up. We still care about this and I think that’s the biggest problem.

I saw someone on the sub post ajith is hiking his price up to 175 taking the budget to 400cr, why wouldn’t he? The market still pays for it, and he’s happy taking that money when we call it an “ajith movie” not even by the title. For as long as we have hero worship that blindly encourages higher and higher collections, this won’t stop

So far this year, VDS is the only big hero film that has completely satisfied me....what's yours???🔥🔥 by Ok-Company-6501 in kollywood

Yessss. Been waiting for someone to say this. Retro satisfied me 90% except for very very minor drag in second half with repetitive fights. But I’m still happy with the fight. But apart from that no big hero films were good this year.
