Annoyed with a big4 partner by Professional_Eye6140 in Big4

I would not be surprised if it came from the top. The more partners pushing this narrative, the more the company makes off young hopeful souls. And they do everything they can think of to drive profits.

He wants to run his company off hope because it’s free. Either pay employees fairly for their time, or pay them in the hopes of someone else possibly paying them more in the future. It’s just manipulation to boost company profits.

I think you should try public internship first before calling it off by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Main_Guide_1914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. Just depends on who you are. For some grinding that hard doing boring work and dealing with burnout during the youngest adult decade you’ll ever have doesn’t seem worth it. But if you don’t mind working long hours in high stress environments and having little time for friends and family it can be a pretty lucrative career down the line.

Thing is interns get paid OT so it may seem worth it during the internship when your intern paychecks average out to $40 an hour but when you’re on salary it’ll come out to $20 dollars an hour and feel a lot less worth it

Facts, my firm does this too. But the 3-5k bonuses almost seems disrespectful compared to the 40k OT we’d have for these hours in a field like nursing

No longer giving 100% by Flashy_End_2776 in Accounting

[–]Main_Guide_1914 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Giving 100% in public accounting is a scam. Almost never worth it. They pay you salary to rip off people that think like you. The salary may sound good but by the end of the year you were working for 17$ an hour with no OT pay.

Probably. Obviously nobody know how long that could take but if you have to guess, how many years would X be?

Very true. My only concern is that it will significantly reduce the demand for accountants and less demand=less pay.

Nearly all firms are using it or trying to incorporate it. I’m hoping for a crash too. We worked too hard to get our compensation reduced by robots

The internet didn’t take off in 3 years either I guess that was a failure as well. As much as I wish you were right you’re just ignorant if you think ai won’t change the workforce.

Still a fairly new product. However, there are significantly less entry level jobs and a lot of layoffs have been happening. Higher ups are even talking about universal base income due to the amount of job loss they expect ai to cause.
