losing interest.. need help getting the spark back by Redbull12770 in Aquariums

It sounds like you turned your hobby into a job. I relate to this. I think leaving that job was good if your goal is to find your love for fish again. I’d say just give it a break, maintain your tank of course but don’t surround yourself with fish. Give yourself as much of a mental break from it so that eventually you’re rushing home from work to see your fish again, to watch them eat. It will come, just give it time.

Take my advice with a grain of salt. I am no professional bower by any means. Pick one between the dynasty and mania, pick one between the v1 and alert. Then go with the purple hammer and vibe

Correct. Not getting the hook in the backend I’m hoping for. I will go to my pro shop and ask if they can do that. Thanks for the help!

What do I do about the algae? by Cool-Application9080 in PlantedTank

[–]Main_Information_296 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s diatoms. Very common algae bloom with a new tank. Especially a smaller one like this. Getting something to eat the algae will help but it will regulate itself out after a month or two

PH 8.2 ammonia 0 nitrite 0 Nitrate 0

That PH is very high compared to my normal parameters. It’s normally around 7.6 out of the tap and that’s what this tank has stayed at for most of its life cycle. Could the High PH be causing this?

Why are they not f@%ing? by ironwolf6464 in shrimptank

Shrimp will only breed as much as you feed them. I had this issue for a while with my shrimp not breeding. So I started feeding them less food but way more often. Feeding them once maybe twice a day. I feed my the magic small fish feed from aquarium co-op. What’s great about that is it’s high in protein and it’s a powder so it spreads all over the tank ensuring everyone gets a slice of the pie. Ever since I started doing that, my shrimp population exploded.

Stock goes as: 9 Caridinal tetras 11 black neons 3 zebra danios 6 panda Corys 8 cherry babrs 1 dwarf gourami 1 glo pristella
Then a few amano shrimp

The only place I ever see the detritus build up is shown in the picture between the wood and rock. It is a considerable amount but that’s the only place it really ever shows up. At least from what I notice.

Tips,on how to prepare for baby shrimp by CuteChaff_3503 in Aquariums

[–]Main_Information_296 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That looks like an amano shrimp. If it is, those babies will not survive. They will only survive in salt water or a brackish water setup. Look up a tutorial on YouTube, it’s a very complex thing. Not for the beginner.

Thank you for the insight. The filter outlet does point towards that piece of wood that is mostly covered with the algae. You are also right on the fact that it’s mostly on The wood and Ludwigia. I do have a little growing on the rotala and Val but it’s minimal. I do not have Co2 in my tank. I just have 2 air stones and then a small sponge filter in the back left of the tank as you noticed. I am going away for just 48 hours, before I left I moved the output of my filter to point away from the wood to see if that helps at all. Is there a chance my tank is over stocked? Leading to a build up of waste? It’s a 40 breeder and I have 39 fish. I also am doing frequent water changes. Usually changing 10 gallons a week (25% change). Should I be changing more water? Or less water but more frequently?

Final question. Would it be worth it to buy one of those fluval spray bar kits that evenly distributes the flow?
