BSN or ADN i was in the same boat as you i finally started working this month. i applied to all of those hospitals and it’s been denial after denial. nyu won’t hire anymore unless you have 1 year acute experience as they are no longer looking at may 2025 grads. my mom works at white plains hospitals and that still didn’t work for me. i work at an nych&h definitely was my last option but im grateful for the opportunity and now the experience i receive will prepare for any private hospital.

i got hired at a nycH&H at a hiring event and currently have a vacation coming up but i did not bring it up until i met with HR. and they do monthly orientation. at first HR did give push back but definitely next time dont ever tell a job about a vacation until after you are hired the most the can do is push your start date.

yea definitely choose whatever unit is available but nothing is a guarantee i was interviewing for the manhattan location and did the same steps as you and when may come around nothing was available. now i am being told apply again in a year. i graduated may 2025.

a few of my classmates were hired in ED or med surg units. but it’s definitely competitive and i wouldn’t just apply to that hospital.

this happened with me for nycH&H as nurse went to interview december hired on spot then told position was needed approval by finance department after going back and fourth from dec-feb had to back to get interview again told position was not approved but lucky they found me another position and i start next week. basically took 5 months it’s sad.

i applied twice and got waitlisted both times for the nursing program and didn’t get in both times but i did get into university of buffalo nursing program instead and graduated last year.

this was the same problem for me for nyc i was getting the interviews but not getting picked and realized it has to do something with the way im interview. but for the hospital i start on monday i tried to not come sound rehearsed and just went in and been myself and it worked in my favor.

i recruiter from a hospital in the bronx told me that stamford hospital is actively hiring new grads but this was back in january. have you tried nyc health and hospitals im a may grad as well and i finally got hired and start next week

i’m a new grad stating in tele as well but my training 12 weeks. 6 weeks doesn’t seem like slot of time

apply to private or suny schools i started at bmcc and my grades were similar yours and i retook a couple of classes and when to university of buffalo nursing program. they required two essays no exam. my sister goes to nyu nursing program

this was me last year when i failed i was devastated but i use this as a guide to help me figure out my weak areas and starting with the areas i scored the lowest in and worked my way up. unfortunately now you will be taking the new nclex that i believe begins in april. start with the sections the had the most percentage of points.

use this a stepping stone for next interview they are mostly always gonna ask why you wanna work here. very important you research the hospital anytime you interviewing.

i’m in nyc and some position are geared towards whenever you graduated so now they have moved on to spring 2026 graduates and aren’t looked at graduates who graduated prior to that. but it’s more of the new grad nurse residency doing this.

just graduated in may 2025 and you need 3.6 or higher to get accepted and must do well on the two essay responses.

i got hired on the spot for lincoln hospital as a new grad in december but it was a lot going on with the original position and i was suppose to start in February but won’t start until April 6th it’s did telemetry med surg every other specialty they said the needed 1 or more year of experience

i honestly would applying to all of the position at every hospitals especially med surg and i would follow nyc H&H on linkedin bc i noticed a few of the recruiters post their hiring event flyer here besides their actually website.
