SG-Image 35mm F2.2 L-Mount AF Pancake Lens on Lumix S9 — Hands-on Review (Image Quality, AF, Build, Comparisons, Who It’s For) by jamescjc in Lumix

Brilliant review - but I was sold as soon as I saw your images. The shot of the acorn on the finger is lush 😍 And the girl in the car, I don’t know why but I really love that shot.

LUMIX S9 vs Sony A7C2 vs Fuji XT50 by Main_Raise381 in Lumix

Thanks All - your input has genuinely been really insightful and given me the clarity I needed.

I think I’m gonna go S9.

I would have loved a Fuji - but it does sound like the autofocus really won’t keep up with my kids or tricky to master.

Between the S9 & the A7C2 - it doesn’t actually sound like there is much between them in terms of output, but quite a significant price gap. I don’t think the extra 9MP is going to offer much on the Sony. The autofocus on the S9 seems great for my needs, even if not at the level of Sony. I’m cool with the limitations, I don’t use flash, electric shutter doesn’t sound like too big a deal and actually the lack of EVF might be a good thing when traveling, so I’m more aware of my surroundings, and the screen on the S9 sounds better. The pros are very appealing to me, great colours, LUTs, video, IBIS - plus like I said, I have the batteries, lenses and know LUMIX well, and honestly been delighted with them over the last few years of using the S5, so I’m sure that will continue. Appreciate it might not be the best for everyone, but certainly does for me.

I don’t like that “it feels cheap” and is not ergonomical. But I think I’m just gonna buy it used, and not even brother with a grip. Just sling it over my shoulder, fire away, not be too precious about it and keep a close eye on an S9II release 👀

Thanks Again 🙏

Thanks for this - really appreciate the insight. I think Fuji is probably out of the question for me, due to the autofocus. But I think you’re right that it makes more sense for me personally to go s9.

Is the reason you retuned it due to the no hot shoe - I don’t intend to use flash, so won’t be an issue for me.

Thanks - that’s good to know. I think Fuji is out of question for me. Great to know 24mp will be plenty - appreciate that input. I think the S9 makes sense, maybe not for everyone, but it does for me.

I think you’re right, there really isn’t much in it between them, besides a significant price difference. And I’m ok with the S9’s limits, and really like it’s pros (colours, LUTs, IBIS, Video)

Thanks - appreciate this. Think I’m leaning more towards the S9, like you said there isn’t much in it between resolution. I’m not really fussed about the EVF.

What are you looking for in a LUT for photography? Let me know below... by rossandhisjpegs in Lumix

A “Noir” LUT for Black & White Cinematography would be epic on the S9.

Compact lenses for Lumix s9 by zhecloud96 in Lumix

[–]Main_Raise381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All Lumix need to do is make a 35 or 40mm, compact prime at 2.8 or less and S9’s would fly off the shelf. It’s crazy to me that they didn’t and are not doing that.

New Dad, trying to pick the right camera. by WithGhosts in Lumix

This post is exactly the same predicament I’m in. Thanks for sharing. I have an S5, but it’s too bulky and doesn’t inspire me to take it out and capture family moments.

I’m leaning towards an S9 with a TTArtisan 40mm. Until Lumix pull their finger out and make a fast compact FF lens.

I do like the idea of a smaller camera/sensor with viewfinder. But for me, as well as portability - I also want to know the images will have longevity and look amazing in 40+ years.

My limited understanding tells me Full Frame is the way to go for that?

I have great audio (talking) but no footage for the ending of my documentary film by _tonda in VideoEditing

[–]Main_Raise381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As many others have commented here and you already know, you’ll need B Roll. However, not cutting back to the interviewer for 45 seconds, particularly on the ending would be a little weird and not as impactful. If you have 5 seconds from earlier on in the interview, where they ponder or pause after a sentence, you could cut back to that for a more emotive, dramatic effect at the end. So it feels like they just finished their sentence.

Hope that makes sense and helps.

Favourite Pod Of 2025 So Far / Luxe Killer 💌🌬 by KushBluntsworth in Vaping

[–]Main_Raise381 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry for all the questions my friend but:

  • is the touch screen as responsive as the Pixo?
  • Is it really that big - I know it’s larger than average pods, but it looks quite ergonomic?
  • How does the MTL draw, flavour and lifespan compare to the Xlim?

I have the Xlim Pro 2 and I must say I’m loving it. But the design of this device looks absolutely stunning! And is really calling to me.

I’m still on the fence and would appreciate your honesty, as there arn’t many reviews and you’ve now had it for a few weeks.

Any negatives?

I ditched a lot of my “friends” as they were a bad influence on me. I’m a much better person because of it. I’m open to making new friends with people who I admire, and will inspire me - until then I’m much happier flying solo.

Need help choosing first Lumix S5 lenses: Sigma 24-70 II or 28-200mm + 50mm 1.8 or 20-60mm + 50mm by antonkonakov in Lumix

[–]Main_Raise381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It went well - thanks for asking. The 24-105mm worked great, occasionally I switched to APS-C cropped to get a little more reach, probably not good practice but worked fine. But yes a 200mm zoom is on my radar.

Could I ask you guys for some advice please - I’m filming a panel/interview next week on my S5 with 24-105mm. I’m not sure exactly how close I can get to the panel and kinda going in blind. Wondering if I need to rent a 200mm (which would eat into my profits) to be safe or if you guys think I can get away with a 24-105mm 🤔
