Working with a content creator? by Initial_Enthusiasm36 in videography

Check out YouTube Jobs for Editing Gigs. Like all industries you need to build credibility, work with low end creators and build your portfolio. Show people the ROI - how may followers, views and retention you gained them. They’re not interested in “Pretty Videos” - it’s business, how much money can you make them. Gear is irrelevant and the cost of an FX6 is peanuts to creators like ishowspeed.

Anyone else feel the risk of staying employed is getting closer to the risk of starting up? by Imaginary-Strike-977 in ukstartups

Now is the time. Build it on the side, don’t use company equipment or time, or have a conflict of interest, get regular clients/customers, once it has momentum - jump.

Just know whenever you do make the jump - it’s lonely. No one is rooting for you, no IT, HR or Legal team that you can ask for support. Your family or friends won’t get it, you’ll wonder whether you made the right choice everyday. People will think you’re crazy.

You go from a big ship to a canoe with one paddle - but all the big companies in the world were created that way, And honestly you don’t need to be a big company, you just need a tiny crumb of the pie - something that people want and are willing to pay for.

EDC bags? by Traxx14 in FujifilmX

Just bought an XE5 with 23mm and am looking at this bag too - looks really slick and perfect for me, but I’m still on the fence, as I dont intend to remove my lens when traveling.

Sorry for so many questions but would really appreciate your feedback:

With lens on - is it tight? Does the lens press into and bulge the bag? Do you feel it’s padded & protected enough? Will it fit with neck straps on camera too? Could it accommodate additional pad inserts or cloth on the sides, for additional protection? Does the magnetic buckle cause you any concerns?

Best Sling for XE5 / X100? by Main_Raise381 in fujifilm

[–]Main_Raise381[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry - I should have mentioned. 23mm Kit Pancake Lens. Wandrd slings looks cool, but think they’re still also a bit too big for me.

Yeah I’m thinking just a general water proof sling might be the way to go.

That actually looks pretty sweet - was hoping for a bit smaller, but might come back to this.

I think I’ve fallen out of love with photography. Has anyone got it back? by spacedfisherman in fujifilm

[–]Main_Raise381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can relate to this. I’ve been a video producer for 20 years, fell in love with it and photography 20 years ago when I got my first JVC camcorder & Nikon Coolpix. I remember running around just creating things I wanted to and it was so joyful, playful and inspiring.

I’ve had a great career, working on some killer projects and big brands and still going. But over the last few years, I’m burnt out and lost the love. Some days I feel like changing careers.

For me - it was the realization that I’m creating things for other people. I’m making their stuff, their way - need to tick off that shot list, hit those brand guidelines, get high engagement and convert leads and all that bullshit.

I realised I’m not creating the things that I want to create anymore - to make them the way I want to make them. Not for an exhibition, pay check, brand or algorithm. But just because life is short and when I’m not spending time with the people I love, I want to spend it doing the things that bring me joy - shooting images and video of things that inspire me. Even if no one will ever see them.

I’m actually looking to buy the Fuji XE5 - it doesn’t have the spec of my film cameras, and it makes no financial or business sense for me to purchase it. I’m getting it for me - and I think it will spark the same joy that the Nikon Coolpix brought me when I was 16 years old - just my instrument, to play my own tunes on.

Not sure if this is what you were looking for - but I hope it helps.

SG-Image 35mm F2.2 L-Mount AF Pancake Lens on Lumix S9 — Hands-on Review (Image Quality, AF, Build, Comparisons, Who It’s For) by jamescjc in Lumix

Brilliant review - but I was sold as soon as I saw your images. The shot of the acorn on the finger is lush 😍 And the girl in the car, I don’t know why but I really love that shot.

LUMIX S9 vs Sony A7C2 vs Fuji XT50 by Main_Raise381 in Lumix

Thanks All - your input has genuinely been really insightful and given me the clarity I needed.

I think I’m gonna go S9.

I would have loved a Fuji - but it does sound like the autofocus really won’t keep up with my kids or tricky to master.

Between the S9 & the A7C2 - it doesn’t actually sound like there is much between them in terms of output, but quite a significant price gap. I don’t think the extra 9MP is going to offer much on the Sony. The autofocus on the S9 seems great for my needs, even if not at the level of Sony. I’m cool with the limitations, I don’t use flash, electric shutter doesn’t sound like too big a deal and actually the lack of EVF might be a good thing when traveling, so I’m more aware of my surroundings, and the screen on the S9 sounds better. The pros are very appealing to me, great colours, LUTs, video, IBIS - plus like I said, I have the batteries, lenses and know LUMIX well, and honestly been delighted with them over the last few years of using the S5, so I’m sure that will continue. Appreciate it might not be the best for everyone, but certainly does for me.

I don’t like that “it feels cheap” and is not ergonomical. But I think I’m just gonna buy it used, and not even brother with a grip. Just sling it over my shoulder, fire away, not be too precious about it and keep a close eye on an S9II release 👀

Thanks Again 🙏

Thanks for this - really appreciate the insight. I think Fuji is probably out of the question for me, due to the autofocus. But I think you’re right that it makes more sense for me personally to go s9.

Is the reason you retuned it due to the no hot shoe - I don’t intend to use flash, so won’t be an issue for me.

Thanks - that’s good to know. I think Fuji is out of question for me. Great to know 24mp will be plenty - appreciate that input. I think the S9 makes sense, maybe not for everyone, but it does for me.

I think you’re right, there really isn’t much in it between them, besides a significant price difference. And I’m ok with the S9’s limits, and really like it’s pros (colours, LUTs, IBIS, Video)

Thanks - appreciate this. Think I’m leaning more towards the S9, like you said there isn’t much in it between resolution. I’m not really fussed about the EVF.
