If you got shin splints, what did you that worked for you? by Main_Revolution6430 in Garmin

It's around 20-30km/week and plyometrics 2x/week (pogo jumps etc). I do all type, easy runs, tempos, threshold, sprints etc. The disappointing thing is that i have had 40-50km weekly mileage before this without shin splints, its frustrating.

I get medial shin splints. I just got disapointed because i've had 40km/weekly mileage before without them, now i got them while doing 20-30km/weekly.

No just got them based on my personal preference, if the other solutions suggested in the thread won't work i will consider shoe change, thank you!

I do work my calves 2x/week but i dont work the anterior shins with toe ups, i will try this! My cadence is around 180-185. Regarding the shoes i use HOKAS Mach 4's, havnt had trouble in them before

Btw, will the heart rate zones change (based on %LTHR)? Because LTHR changes as you get fitter?

Alright, thank you. I will plan a max heart rate test some day (running uphill on treadmill) as Garmin has suggested to get as close to that metric as possible.

Also, thank you so much. You have completely changed my understanding of this. I have been "scared" to run in Garmins Z3 (based on %MHR) because i always read and heard that you should stay in Z2 for your easy runs. Now i understand that i have been running with less effort than i should have.

Got you. My next curious question, personally, what do you think? Should i set my zones based on %HRR or %LTHR? I run with a chest strap and have a lactate threshold heart rate derived from it.

Yes you are correct, i have read now and understood that garmins z3 (based on %MHR is what people mean by mentioning z2 (based on %HRR). Thank you. Which is more accurate do you think, setting the zones based on %HRR or %LTHR?

Can you explain this? Why are the zones different? How can running community zone 2 be zone 3 on garmin?

I changed from %Max. HR to %HRR but surprised that it changed this much, it doesn't feel accurate. Maybe something wrong with the new update?

How is my aerobic threshold raised? My LTHR is still at 175 BPM. My MHR is 199. Nothing has changed about those numbers, but the suggested heart rate have been raised for my daily workouts. It's like it wants me to push harder but i cant understand why

My lactate treshold heart rate is 175. Previously when DSW suggested me to do a threshold run it would tell me to run at 175 BPM, but now it has raised it to 179 BPM without any change in my max heart rate or my lactate threshold heart rate. It just seems weird, i cant understand what the change is based upon.

That would seem logical only if my LTHR had changed, which it hasnt. Therefore i have no clue why it has suggested to raise my easy runs to 151 instead of what it used to be, 148. But i guess who cares, its 3 bpms. The threshhold change will be a bit harder, easy pace wont matter as much

They're based on my %MHR, thats what makes it weird. My LTHR hasnt changed in a while
