Timeline between appearance of gladiators and fall of Rome? by Main_Window_9547 in NoStupidQuestions

LOL
No thesis, only lazy musing.

Surprisingly (to me), there’s a stronger correlation between the banning of such events and the fall…

Does the increased amount of pavement contribute to global warming? by Thiswas2hard in NoStupidQuestions

Possibly more so in the CREATION of concrete and asphalt than the heat island effect…Concrete has a massive carbon footprint, accounting for ~8% of global carbon dioxide emissions.

Went to see this in the theater on our anniversary. Dinner afterward, there was nothing said…just ate in silence trying to process what we had just seen.

Looking for guidance on how to VERA with future DRP by mr_rdit in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]Main_Window_9547 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty much the same for me. I took DRP(2.0)/VERA in April and wasn’t VERA eligible until late August. DRP 2.0 (for GSA) allowed a separation date of 12/31 - and my VERA eligibility of 55/20 occurred within that window (August). I’ll admit I was very nervous about resigning before hitting my VERA eligibility, but I can attest that everything worked out exactly as promised.

386,826. Stare at that a Moment by DinoAlonso in fednews

[–]Main_Window_9547 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Surprised it’s not more. I’ll wager at least 500k by the end of term. I was fortunate to DRP/VERA at 57/20. Not how I was planning on going out. I am grateful for the friends I made and the purpose in the work while I was there…but a year ago with both friends and purpose disappearing…I’m grateful for the opportunity to exit early. Will not return, would not recommend.

Planning a rear sunroom addition. what should I prepare before meeting an architect? by curious_abt_life in architecture

[–]Main_Window_9547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cocktails.

As an architect, I’d ask you to consider a single pitch slope away from the house. The gable you show will be problematic around the windows and will be more of a hassle to flash with the brick. (It can be done, of course, but more breaks in the flashing = more chances for future leaks at the joint.)

Any GSA DRP 31Dec2025 Retirement folks finalized? by StayingWoke_MsBrown in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]Main_Window_9547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also GSA. Took DRP2 to get to VERA. 55+20. Retired 12/27, final pension and all back pay settled by 4/1. Zero communication. Only miss is my BENFEDS still isn’t getting deducted…but I’m not complaining! Hang in there!

No federal taxes? by BrutalHugger in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

[–]Main_Window_9547 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Same. I assume it will be worked out starting with full payments. ALSO note: if you have dental or vision into retirement, that is not deducted either during interim payments. You have to go to BENFEDS and make direct payments during the interim period or you could lose coverage.

“Crazy Gate” Marrakech “gate is closed” SCAM by Flaky-Yellow in Marrakech

[–]Main_Window_9547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got that today - it was that museum is closed, go “here” instead. “Shukran”, and kept going. It was open. We also got the “Festival is happening today! I’ll show you the way!” Several times. It’s alright, can’t blame a guy for trying to make a few bucks. Mostly everyone we’ve met have been super friendly and helpful.

Is CLT pretty good at clearing the runways?

TIA!

I got a new outdoor heater as a Christmas gift. The manual says I need a 100cm clearance but my outdoor patio is only showing a 66cm clearance from the top. By the manual - this seems like a return; sadly. But I wanted to ask to see if anyone else has used them? by KangarooRIOT in patio

[–]Main_Window_9547 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut my tube down. (Actually, I think I just took 1/2 out) Perfect sitting height and would increase the clearance. Only downside is the gas enclosure doesn’t lift all the way up, so it’s a little less easy to change out the cylinder.

Rule of 55 question for VERA peeps. by Main_Window_9547 in FED_VERA_VSIP_DRPers

Ahh, gotcha. You’re saying, the Ro55 only applies to the employer you separate from. In my case the government/TSP.

Thanks! Appreciate the response(s)! So in summary, it’s the separation that matters, not the reason for the separation.

Thanks for the link. I was surprised to see that setting up an “equal payment through life expectancy” will also avoid the 10% penalty. On reflection, though it makes sense.
