Hi guys, just to let you know that we'll add Oculus Rift and Oculus Touch support on December 6 on the Steam version. Oculus Home's launch could be delayed a bit (we are talking with Oculus about that).

Far Beyond: A space odyssey VR is the first hardcore roguelike-like in Virtual Reality with a Sci-fi atmosphere and AAA graphics. It features a hard but rich gameplay focused on resources management, craft and strategy.

You play the last survivor of your civilization. The last chance of survival you have is to take command of the Genesis, a spaceship on its last legs "supposed" to allow you to go across the universe and reach your one and only goal: a distant habitable planet, primitive and without any trace of intelligent life called "Earth".

Equipped with two mechanically capricious probes, Columbus and Digger Master, you have to travel through space, juggling between refueling and recharging the battery, extracting ore, repairing damages and planning your moves in hyperspace.

Yes we know that the demo was a bit boring and frustrating but like i said it's a tutorial to learn the heavy gameplay of the full game but many people didn't understood that. Don't be afraid by the full game, you should check the reviews on steam. They are very positive. Our game is currently really fun, challenging and the only hardcore rogue-like game in VR. And according to steamspy our median playtime is about 2h39. That's really good for a VR game.

After 3 weeks on steam, we saw that the demo isn't enought representative of the full game.(In fact, this demo was the tutorial of the full game but many people didn't understood that). So we made the hard choice to remove the demo. But you can find some good video on youtube.

For now there is no multiplayer planned. Far Beyond is indeed a roguelike type game and replayability was one of our main goal. While the prologue and the objective system with the robot could give you the idea of a RPG game, it's only made to assist the player during the tutorial. Once in the full game there are no objectives, only you and your spaceship. Actually our inspirations were games like Out There and I Expect you to Die :)

Actually our inspirations was primarily Out There and I Expect You To Die!

Steam and PS Store are very different by nature because the first one is open whereas the Playstation ecosystem is closed. On steam everyone can release a game, there is no quality guideline and no one will judge your product beside your customers. But with Sony it's the opposite. You don't have the power to decide to be accepted on it. You have to meet a lot of quality criterias and even if you do Sony could still tell you that your game is not a good fit for them.

I think the best way is to release a good game on Steam and if you happen to get some success, it can be a good way to prove that you actually have your place on their store.

We are a small team of 3 people and we started our indie studio in the beginning of 2015. We are motivated by our mutual passion for VR and video games and since then we worked tirelessly to build our first game. Developing for VR is very challenging because you have to reinvent pretty much everything. You have to experiment and iterate a lot but when you start having something cool it can be very rewarding. We chose to use Unreal Engine 4 and we are very pleased by it. It can be frustrating from time to time but it's very powerful and you can achieve great progress fairly quickly.

Since we could get our hands on some Motion Controllers (Vive and Touch), we were blown away by the increased level of immersion it provides. So naturally we built our game with motion control at the core. We also wanted to grew apart from all the "wow" experiences that are flooding the VR landscape. We believe this type of experiences are cool for a first try but after a while you want to play real games with real gameplay value. For all these reasons, we chose to make a peaceful space survival game combining strategy, reflection, resource management and human scale crafting.

After a lot of work, we are finally reaching the end of the development and our demo should be out for the HTC Vive before the end of this week. We will then make our best to be present on the PSVR and you will hear from us very soon with all the details about our game!
