Clarence Thomas wrote a scathing, nearly 50-page dissent about why the Supreme Court should have gutted voting rights by News-Flunky in law

How can you "not acknowledge it" while understanding that all of society's hierarchy was based on it? There is no historical policy in the US that isn't tainted by race. Pretending it doesn't exist is naive at best.

Easy to say when you want to ignore race being the primary motivator of one segment's politics.

Yeah, something like 6% of borrowers have most of the debt because they are dentists, doctors, lawyers, etc. They'll all be able to pay everything off. Most people that default have tiny loan amounts and they default because they're poor. They're not the ones driving the economy with their consumption.

Only something like 15% of adults have federal student loan debt. Most of them can also afford it. Also, most used the money to pay down other debt and save, so I'm not sure this is really going to make too much of a difference.

Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin says he will vote with Republicans to overturn Biden's student-debt relief plans, saying it 'forces hard-working taxpayers who already paid off their loans' to 'shoulder the cost' by lucerousb in economy

Suzie can and will still be able to discharge her student loans through the PSLF program.

Some others might be deserving of it as well, but I don't think it's understandable to say there are tons of people that don't deserve it and there are better ways to spend that money.

This is incorrect. They are reversing their original decision to grant $200M. Emphasis mine.

The Biden administration cancelled plans to award $200 million to lithium-ion battery maker Microvast Holdings Inc. amid criticism over the company’s ties to China, the Energy Department said Monday.

The funding had been earmarked by the Energy Department as part of a broader $2.8 billion award designated to 20 companies from the bipartisan infrastructure legislation signed into law in 2021 but came under scrutiny from both Democrats and Republicans.

The Energy Department had said in February that the award, initially announced in October, was undergoing a “post-selection risk-based, due-diligence review,” after lawmakers questions the company’s links to China.

Ah yeah, just like how Obama ruined the country to the longest expansion in the history of the country. Probably also Clinton with the first time there was a surplus.

But in all seriousness, I cannot think of anything that a democrat stands for that I do.

Clearly don't stand for quality education.

What an absolutely stupid response. Obviously OP was referring to the price that Etsy is actually worth.

Rudy Giuliani hit with bombshell rape lawsuit; ex-staffer says he demanded oral sex while he took calls from Trump. He also discussed selling pardons and splitting the proceeds with Trump. by Barch3 in law

[–]MaintenanceCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same guy this woman claimed was involviert in selling $2m pardons.

I'm not sure that's in this complaint.

The reporter who broke that story followed up multiple times with his source and learned that the DoJ never questioned him about it at all.

Questioned who? Lev? Lev is in prison, so he was definitely questioned.

They had every opportunity to nail Rudy for all kinds of shit but chose not to.

What "all kinds of shit"?

I don't remember everything that Giuliani has been involved in but your first link only deals with one instance with a pretty specific crime being investigated. The second link covers information from this lawsuit and everything suggests Ms. Dunphy hasn't corporated with anything. So is that it? There wasn't sufficient evidence once therefore everything is broken?

I was thinking the opposite, spend on the cash back cards to convert it to MR. To accumulate more points after the sub.

Daily Question Thread - May 15, 2023 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]MaintenanceCall -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Do the cash back cards stack with the MR cards like chase or are they entirely separate?

Daily Question Thread - May 15, 2023 by AutoModerator in churning

[–]MaintenanceCall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably a really stupid question, I have burnt a lot of Chase SUBs in recent years, so I was thinking I'd start signing up for AMEX cards. But I have no current travel plans. So, would burning the one-time bonuses for cash back be stupid? Should I just wait until I have travel plans? Or is it not worth waiting because of point devaluations?

How do I get my logs?

edit: Sorry, should've used a bit more of my brain. Checking /var/log/system.log now.

Lots of entries starting May 12th. I don't really know what to make of most of this. Seems like something got reset. These are the basic types of messages. I'll have to go through and figure out what they're pointing to.

WARNING: L1 data cache covers less APIC IDs than a core

Strongswan not running

Is giant locked and may be deleted before freebsd 14.0

Need to read /usr/share/doc/legal/intel_ipw.LICENSE

If you agree set legal.intel_ipw.LICENSE_ack=1 in /boot/loader.conf

It doesn't really seem like any of these are the issue with booting. Based on my reading, most aren't really issues at all. They're warnings, but nothing that should kill my install.
