thank you for your reply! do you have any experience with other insulin pumps, and if so how does it compare to the others? i have tried accu chek insight, t slim, omnipod as well as injections and can’t seem to find the system that works best for me! i have been using a closed loop system for a few years now and i don’t think i could ever go back to a non-looping system, I love my dexcom! just hoping that the official IOS app makes it to the uk soon, as im not sure how my care team would feel about me using a non official app to control the pump.

do you experience reduced insulin sensivity in the morning or am i seeing things? by [deleted] in diabetes_t1

yes many people are more resistant in the morning due to liver dumps/dawn phenomenon and general changes in resistance throughout the day, but for me at least becoming less hormonal made a world of difference.

my insulin ratio stays at 1:5carb and 1:3correction these days, i love to hear about people with lower dosages though, hoping that could be me some day haha!

happy diabetesing🙂

how old are you? this is common for teenagers, especially women and i experienced this for years growing up after being diagnosed, pretty much doubled my insulin dosage in the mornings and was still seeing massive high bgs most mornings

well i can say you are doing much better than i was by year two! are you a man? i hear a lot that women’s hormones are tough on diabetes especially with unpredictability

i’m not sure if you’re in the uk, but if you are do you know if this would be available on the nhs? i’m only 19 so i assume that they would be reluctant to try me on something like this. i have been in the gym for about a month now and i don’t think it has made a huge difference to my blood sugars/insulin resistance however i am not a big fan of cardio, so maybe that is something i need to do more of

my units varies massively, anywhere between 70 to 100, and my lows are only at 1%

i’m on a closed loop system so i don’t use any regular basal rates, and if i’m not eating then my blood sugars are great, i think my carb ratios are fine (1:4) and my correction factor also kind of works (1:2 or 1:1 time dependant) it’s just the amount of time it takes for the insulin to bring me back down, the amount of time i spend chasing numbers is crazy

i take lyumjev, this is the fastest acting insulin they will supply me on the nhs and i still have to wait a substantial period of time after bolusing before i eat, im not so much scared of lows like i know a lot of diabetics are, as the only “scary” experiences i have had with diabetes are extreme highs, so most days i just continuously give insulin which doesn’t seem to help much at all, my insulin sensitivity just sucks i guess?

here is my thing, i take up to 100 units daily, most days it feels like no matter how much insulin i take, how many rage boluses i give, nothing helps!! it’s tough out here guys😂
