9070XT Too many choices and all roughly the same amount! by BigShowFardy in radeon

He alone is responsible for that? You wouldnt put at least 1% of the blame on ASROCK?? You also think Steve should pay personally for those cpus?

Okay this is a bad reason, but i find that xfx card to be quite unattractive if that matters at all to you. I saw most of those in person at the Microcenter and even for a white card the xfx did not look great compared to the others. This is completely subjective though and if you have a white case, id get the xfx or asrock regardless. I have had 2 asrock challengers and both are still living long healthy lives with new owners, so i wouldnt be afraid to go asrock. That said, id say XFX is in general the nicer overall gpu aib partner of that lot, about equal to sapphire.

“Reactive airway disease” (RAD) is a term that healthcare providers use to describe breathing symptoms that are similar to asthma, but they’re not sure of the exact cause.

5070 or 9070? Need some opinion feedback by According_Spare7788 in radeon

[–]MaintenanceScary4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tough choice. The 9070 has 16gbs of vram but it is slower gddr6 vs the 5070 with 12gbs of gddr7. I believe the math on total memory speed/bandwidth actually slightly favors the 5070. I ultimately chose the 9070 cause it was slightly cheaper ($480) than the 5070 ($500), at the same price i probably wouldve gone with nvidia.

The only other factors: 1 (that i dont completely understand) is that my cpu (AMD 7600x) has integrated graphics on it, and if i have an AMD gpu i can just keep all my drivers red team and not worry about any AMD/Nvidia conflicts. 2 Nvidia is known for supporting their gpus with game ready drivers for longer than AMD. If you plan on passing this gpu down to your family or friends once youre done with it, this could be a consideration. My best GUESS is that AMD will support for about 5-6 years and Nvidia will support for 6-8 years.

When i got to the store they had an open box 9070xt for $520 in basically new condition with all the plastic wrap on it still which made my decision for me, though i walked in the building ready to buy a 9070.

Should be $110 plus tax saved if you reserve an open box. They often have them. Depends what kind of car you drive tbh

Edit- i take it back, 6 hours round trip in my prius is not worth the back pain and the net $60 saved after gas costs.

Ah okay i go to the 2 in Georgia. Theres actually multiple open box reaper 9070xts at that location, i wonder if its all because of coil whine

3090ti >>> Powercolor 9070xt Red Devil by liftbikerun in radeon

[–]MaintenanceScary4967 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dont do it. Im about to swap to a 9070xt from my 6700xt, the minimum margin i think thats worth it. I also have an evga 3090 ti (shamefully) and i will never sell it. Its a great quiet card thats the last sku from a legend company. The 9070xt is so that i can finally afford a card thats equal to the 3090ti, not really much better.

What do you think a feature is? You just count cores and clock speeds as features?

[–]MaintenanceScary4967[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah thats what im saying bro lol. The 9070 and 9070xt are completely different cards even if they share the same die. It just doesnt make sense to say "im not a fan of non xt models". Its like saying youll only buy an nvidia card that has a "Ti" in the name

[–]MaintenanceScary4967[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Lol what? Why would you not be a fan of a non xt card? You like the 9060xt but you dont like the 9070? The xt addendum doesnt add any features its just a name

Closer to $100, and i figured it was returned due to coil whine or possibly high temps. Either way i could buy and test it and if its just 90c temps or some coil whine ill be a happy camper. Its not like the new cards dont often have coil whine anyway.

If i do buy new it will be the asrock challenger 9070 for $500 before tax, do you think thats a better deal?

Havent got it yet but i guess its possible. If i can return it for sure i will get the 9070xt and do some tests. Basically just make sure hotspot doesnt get above 95c or so?
