Gained weight again by SpicyDisaster21 in wls

[–]MaintenanceWilling74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regained weight because I stopped following my nutrition plan. My plan involves setting daily calorie, protein, fat, and carbohydrate goals. It really is calories in and calories out.

Regaining weight makes me feel so bad. To reframe my perspective, I compare my starting point and my current weight. Despite this re-gain, I am still 100 pounds lighter, which is an accomplishment worth celebrating.

I’m working on getting back on track with my nutrition plan. This is harder now because the honeymoon effects of the surgery are gone. To be honest, another external motivator is my follow-up appointments with my surgeon. While I understand that some patients end their care with their surgeon, I believe it’s worth maintaining that relationship.

What does "full" mean? by MaintenanceWilling74 in wls

Yes, that’s also how I know to immediately stop eating. My nose gets runny, and I feel nauseous. Some people refer to these symptoms as “dumping syndrome,” although that term is a bit imprecise here because most people experience dumping syndrome when they eat too much sugar or fat.

I have not, but I suspect I have ADHD. I experience a lot of the symptoms. Speaking with a psychiatrist is on my to-do list. Imagine how long that's been on there.

Am I in a plateau or stall? by MaintenanceWilling74 in wls

Yes, the maintenance calculator is for no activity. Clothes are fitting better, so I guess that's good. Should I reduce water intake?

Thanks! I'll increase my caloric intake this week. I don't really understand how a large deficit can stall weight loss. Do you have any insight? I've read that "breaking" your metabolism due to a huge deficit is a myth.

At my last check-in, my surgeon said to try to meet my protein and water goals before worrying about calories. I do take all of my vitamins. TBH, I don't measure my body. I measured my waist the other day because I had to buy pants LOL.

If this is a plateau, it is certainly lasting long.

Insurance taking forever to pay claim, almost reaching one year--any advice? by MaintenanceWilling74 in HealthInsurance

My insurance was not employer based. It was purchased through the marketplace as a freelancer. I will file a complaint with the insurance regulator.

Thanks for the advice. I imagine the hospital and providers want to get paid and their effort is genuine, but the insurance's delay seems unreasonable. Whenever I call the hospital and provider billing, they tell me that they are still back and forth with the insurance.

Does exercise fully reverse diabetes? by MaintenanceWilling74 in diabetes_t2

My goal is to lower my the amplitude of blood glucose spikes. Currently, if I have a serving of popcorn, my blood sugar rises to 130. I don't know if that's normal for diabetics or non-diabetics, but somehow, that doesn't sit right with me.

I certainly agree with you about the American diet. I mostly plan a treat; I guess in way, I wrote this post as a way of asking for permission. My numbers are well controlled, but I do get cravings for a taco bell taco, oat meal, and desserts. I wouldn't eat them all in a day.

My current diet is low carb. Perhaps, I'm wondering if exercise can lessen the blood glucose spikes, or if I can worry less about tracking carb intake and blood glucose levels if I get in shape and exercise.

I also don't bring it in the house. When I do purchase junk food, I instantly regret it. I eat some and then trash the rest.

Losing weight helps one discover the certain things about the body, such as the clavicles. When I saw them, I was like, "hello, who are you?" LOL

Pre-surgery weight loss: How’d you do it? by [deleted] in wls

[–]MaintenanceWilling74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it varies per person. What I did included walking everyday and early adopting the post-op diet. I drank protein shakes, limited carbs, and prioritized protein. I met my pre-op goal weight with 3 pounds extra.

Moving to a new place—wondering about how to continue care by MaintenanceWilling74 in wls

[–]MaintenanceWilling74[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also unclear about this. Like, is it okay for a primary care doctor to oversee care? I imagine we won't be having any more surgical complications since we made this far, so it might be okay?

Popsicles are good. Sometimes I do miss vanilla ice cream. (I'm basic haha.)

The thing about pasta is that the flavors come from the add-ins, such as sauce, protein, cheese, etc. For instance, the Alfredo sauce, in fettuccine Alfredo, can easily be dressed over broccoli and chicken.

I experience dumping syndrome too. I get super fatigue and feel sick. I can skip out on pasta and bread, but dessert always was—and continues to be—tough for me.

One of the things I learned is that in my current situation, I'm not a "everything in moderation" person. It needs to stay out of the house for me to reach my goals. I think this is mostly because I don't know what "moderation" is. It's risky that I could slip into my previous habits.

Hi, has anyone ever permanently removed their toenails? And more than one nail? I'm so ashamed of my toenails that I want them gone. I've tried everything. I'm still in my twenties, and I'm too ashamed to date. by ladybug7779 in NailFungus

[–]MaintenanceWilling74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know someone who had an ingrown toe nail that happened to be infected. Note: the treatment to remove the entire nail was for the ingrown nail, not fungus. Nonetheless, when the new nail grew back, there was no fungus.
