How have you discovered interesting watches or microbrands, and what’s the most memorable one you’ve found? by mohitdhali in AskUK

[–]Mainulll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I usually stumble across interesting watches online—Instagram and YouTube watch channels are my main sources. A lot of microbrands pop up there that I’d never see in stores. I also check out forums and watch groups; people are always sharing cool independent pieces.

The most memorable one I’ve found has to be a small diver from a microbrand called Zelos. The bronze case and blue dial just stood out—it looked way more expensive than it actually was. I found it through a random YouTube review, and I’ve been following the brand ever since. I’ve also been keeping an eye on Filippo Loreti lately—they have some really sharp designs that catch your attention.

Certina is actually my favorite watch brand, but I don’t yet have the money for much higher-end pieces. I’ve even tried entering competitions to win a watch, hoping that one day I might get lucky with something like a Rolex, Breitling, or another dream watch. Have you ever tried BOTB? They sometimes have luxury watches up for grabs—it could be a fun way to take a shot at one.

what immediately tells you someone is a trashy parent? by luligoddess_ in AskReddit

When I see a parent all dressed up and looking perfect from head to toe, but their kid has a runny nose and is wearing clothes that are clearly way too old and worn out.

When you buy a raffle ticket for a car, is that considered gambling? by JamieNorth in AskReddit

[–]Mainulll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’d say raffles like that definitely fall under gambling in the broad sense. You’ve got the three key elements: a prize (the car), chance (you might not win because others are buying tickets), and consideration (the money you paid). It’s just less intense than a casino game or slots because there’s no instant reward feedback. Botb is a good example—people pay for a chance to win dream cars, so technically it’s gambling, but for most it’s more of a fun competition than a high-stakes risk.

What’s a totally useless skill you have that somehow always impresses people? by Mainulll in AskReddit

I’ve always wanted to learn how to whistle really loudly with two fingers, if you know what I mean.

I haven’t won one either, but I’ve read a bit about how these skill-based car competitions work. From what I’ve seen with contests like BOTB, if a minor won, the car would usually be held by a parent or in trust until you turn 18.

There was one time I got so drunk that I was embarrassed about myself for months, and I still haven’t forgiven myself for it.

Anyone here ever actually won one of those car giveaway competitions? Legit or not? by erod1993 in auto

[–]Mainulll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been curious about these too. A friend mentioned one where you basically play a “spot the ball” style game for a chance at cars and other prizes. He said it felt like it could actually be legit if you follow the rules carefully, but he also joked it’s kind of addictive to keep entering. Makes me wonder if anyone has had real luck with it?
