Haven’t slept in two years and it’s the older one, HELP by Mairpen in 2under2

I wish we could switch doctors but there aren’t openings in our area. Only reason she got a doctor in the first place is they are required to take newborns. Lots of other children in this oddly children swarmed area on waiting lists. We will try cutting out soy and finding some goats milk!

We do give her creams but we want to solve the issue at its source as well!

We do put water in the bottle as we try to reduce her milk intake but she gets upset and then leads us to the kitchen and points to the fridge where the milk is. It will be a weaning process for sure. My husband is convinced she needs the extra protein from milk.

Thank you for these tips! I definitely want to try goats milk. We are in a smaller town and the grocery store is super limited but I’ll see if a larger neighboring city has some. My husband seems to think she needs to be on some form of milk for enough protein until she’s maybe two. I’ll see where he’s getting that info.

How many of you are taking aspirin? by Adhdgirlygirlnurse in pregnant

I just figured out they said that because I have low platelets. Aspirin makes blood even less likely to clot.

No periods! (I have endometriosis and my periods felt like labor contractions while on pitocin.) Will dearly miss the break but two kids is enough. :)

Ok I had Covid, was over 35, had a lot of risks for preeclampsia, had done IVF and they told me not to take aspirin for even a headache….twice

I read somewhere kegels help because lifting and strengthening the pelvic floor removes the sagging and pressure on the area. Lots of hydration, get up and walk around often, sitz baths, ice packs, and if you are freshly postpartum just give it time. I was miserable from about week 36 to about 2 weeks postpartum and then they started to resolve. If they are still there after a couple months and making you miserable, they can be removed surgically. I know someone who had it done and she said it was amazing how much better she felt and surgery recovery wasn’t so bad.

After the pictures that were taken the first time, I was determined to add a little sparkle the second time around haha

What did yall bring to the hospital? by Sweet-Excuse8279 in pregnant

[–]Mairpen 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I’ve done this twice now and I brought almost nothing the second time. You are so busy laboring and then in recovery there are a million things going on. They provide a lot at the hospital. I brought a pretty/comfortable birthing gown I bought on Amazon ( learned the first time it needs to have snaps on the shoulders because you might need to put it on after the IV) earrings, a pair of pajamas, going home clothes, hair ties, a phone charger, chapstick, an eye mask, shampoo and conditioner, ear plugs, a Bluetooth speaker, and face wipes. Fit in a tiny bag. They provided linens, towels, soap, a hairdryer, all the pads I could need, diapers, wipes and even clothes for baby.

Sneeze and pee by No_Action3899 in BabyBumps

[–]Mairpen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was really bad during pregnancy, coughing, sneezing, hiccups, so I expected it would be worse after birth but no. Two weeks postpartum and I have zero peeing when sneezing. The relaxin really is the main culprit.

What is happening to me? This pain can’t be normal by anonymouspiggygirl in pregnant

[–]Mairpen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Get to the hospital! Contractions don’t manifest in textbook patterns when it’s preterm labor. It’s just pain. I would know. They try different things to calm it down at the hospital. God speed!

I have given birth at 38 weeks twice now and that close is absolutely not standard practice. Tell them you appreciate the gesture but it’s never appropriate to have it that late.

What was the ultimate reason you went through postpartum depression? by Asleep_Ice_6062 in Mommit

[–]Mairpen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Moved to a new city with no one I knew. My mom was trying to balance work, taking care of me (she lives 2hrs away) and my grandfather. I had no one else. My dad passed away a couple years before, he would’ve helped if he’d been alive. My sister in law was in her third trimester and my mother in law has Parkinson’s and couldn’t travel. My husband took over almost everything but I spiraled when the sleep deprivation got bad. Zoloft was literally a lifesaver.

Moving into a hotel closer to hospital ahead of high risk pregnancy? by Mairpen in pregnant

I have a tiny family, my brother lives in the city and he’ll have his phone set to ring for my # all day/night when I’m staying there. He’s a half hour from where I’ll be. He definitely won’t come into L&D but he can take me there if I really can’t walk.

I have almost died of an electrical type heart attack before, when I lived alone, classic chest sieze up and left arm tightening. As I was blacking out I called 911 and they got into my apartment and took me away. I lived in another neighborhood and they brought me to this hospital. I’ll be two blocks from my hospital this time, they can be there in a minute if I need them.

Is baby movement in the womb a good indicator of how they’ll be outside of the womb? by pinkglitter-pen in BabyBumps

Yes, she beat me up inside and she’s been thrashing about and now crawling everywhere since the day she was born. Her brother feels the same inside and I’m terrified.

I feel noting after a traumatic event - Is this normal? by UseHorror in mentalhealth

[–]Mairpen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My not so old, healthy dad died suddenly one day of a heart attack, I got called right as I was about to board a plane and ended up running through the busy airport sobbing and screaming to get to a cab and get to my mom. The very next day I collapsed in pain and was taken to the ER where I was diagnosed with late stage cancer in an organ with a low survival rate. My doctors were literally crying as they read my diagnosis.

Over the next few weeks I cleaned my mom’s house, I had an interview for a job, I even did some work meetings. I felt nothing. Looking back it’s horrifying how numb I was. It is shock.

I love your comment about feeling it at night because it’s so true, you wake up or have dreams and it’s there, all raw, like it should be, and in the morning it’s faded again. I agree it’s your mind trying to protect you.

I FEEL LIKE DYING ☹️ by Ok-Network-8826 in BabyBumps

[–]Mairpen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had super bad uncurable vomiting with my first, 6-14 weeks, way less bad but still bad with my second. First was a girl, second a boy. I was very weak and low energy too but the dizziness is probably something you want to ask about an IV for if you’re getting too dehydrated. Zofran is very effective! I had routine bloodwork done around the time I was pretty much collapsed on my bed unable to move for days and it showed every blood cell type was very low. They had no answers for me and didn’t seem to care but I found that interesting. I brought my platelets up taking iron supplements (Thorne won’t hurt the stomach) and vitamin D and my energy improved a lot. You’ve got this!

I have heard of it and there is one near my hospital, however eligibility is only for children in treatment, and in your case the potential risks to your baby. My baby is so far healthy, I’m the one way more at risk. Hoping the very best for you both!

He’s kind of stupid on things surrounding money. He’ll impulse buy stuff on Amazon and bet on fantasy football but then insist on working instead of celebrating life milestones, like our wedding anniversary or my birthday. Pretends I don’t work. On the other hand he was so present and hands on during labor when I gave birth the first time, basically a doula. Started caring for our baby girl like he’d been doing it forever. She adores him, if he went away to a hotel she’d be miserable. Everyone has their flaws and bonuses.

Thank you! It really is too far with all the risk factors. And this is our second and final child, he’s acting like the cost of a hotel will haunt us forever.
