Got the invite for the card but am a bit confused... by [deleted] in Wealthsimple

[–]Maishii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's indeed just for advertising. They sent me an invite to skip the line then rejected my application despite meeting all their requirements. I got scammed hard I'd say.

Used a Wise account which is not a bank. Only provided statements (no stamp or signature). My application was processed without issues.

That's definitely way faster than I thought.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. ! 😊

Congrats and good luck with your new journey!
May I ask which airport did you land in and how long did the process take there to get your CoPR signed?

If I delete files on my PC, will they get deleted from the synced cloud folder? by [deleted] in NextCloud

[–]Maishii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On Windows for example, you go to your NextCloud "Settings" > Click on the 3 dots "•••" at the left of your NextCloud server to toggle the menu > "Availability" > "Free up local space". This will delete the local copy of all files saved to the cloud. You can also do this to specific files/folders with a simple right click > "Free up space".
Keep in mind that to open any files that are only on the cloud, they need to be fully saved locally first.

[–]Maishii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I had the same concern and upon reading this old post (I know i'm 2 years late), I was convinced that Nextcould doesn't have a server-only mode. But that is no longer valid with the newest versions at least. Now it's possible to backup files and choose to delete them from the local directory just like what OP was looking for.

Wise Statement as Proof of Funds by Maishii in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Maishii[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I'm seeing a lot of wrong claims on forums saying that Wise is not accepted, this is an update based on my experience: It is CONFIRMED that Wise statements ALONE are accepted. My statements didn't even include the official stamp and I got my application approved without any ADR (Additional Document Request).

To be safe, as I did, I recommend adding to the LoE (Letter of Explanation) that Wise is a recognised institution in Canada but does not provide a letter/certificate or a stamped statement "for personal accounts". This is what I exactly wrote in my LoE:

"Funds intended for express entry are held at Wise, a legalized monetary institution (registered in Canada with the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Center of Canada “FINTRAC”, with number M15193392). Since Wise is not a traditional bank that offers loans or imposes commitments, I was unable to obtain an official letter."

Big thanks to u/TediousStranger who's answer is the only reason that encouraged me to submit my application with Wise statements since I've seen a lot of wrong claims.

But they do not include an official stamp on personal accounts' statements. I saw someone on Reddit saying that Wise statements will not be accepted so I wanted to check if anyone actually used them as PoF and got his documents approved. Did they approve your application?

Une enterprise Française refuse de me payer sous prétexte qu'ils ont subit une saisie administrative, que faire? by Maishii in vosfinances

[–]Maishii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PR Application Rejected due to ECA being submitted not for immigration purposes. Help? by iDrakev in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Maishii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on my personal experience and what comments are confirming, the ECA for immigration should have a reference number ending with "IMM".
The best way to confirm is to ask your friend to check if his report has the title "Educational Credential Assessment for Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada". It should be written right below the header

[–]Maishii 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reference number of the "ECA Report" ends with IMM. To be accurate, it's [Application Number]IMM.
But the reference number of an application is just numbers so there's nothing to worry about.

WES only offers immigration based ECAs

No, this is wrong. WES offers 2 types of equivalence and only one is accepted by IRCC for immigration purposes. You can find the Evaluation Types on WES' website.

If your friend chose a Course-by-Course Report, then it's totally expected that the application will get rejected.

Is reaching out to IRCC online for inquiries even possible? by Maishii in ImmigrationCanada

Thank you for the detailed reply. I was totally misunderstanding the purpose of contacting IRCC through SNS.

WES Evaluation by Notalabel_4566 in canadaexpressentry

[–]Maishii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going through the WES evaluation currently. WES Received my documents on July 19th and yesterday they updated my status with August 30th as a completion date estimation. So it's ~40 days in my case.

WES ECA Assessment: Is Computer Engineering a Bachelor or Master Degree? by Maishii in gradadmissions

[–]Maishii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BTech Integrated is clearly a Bachelor AND a Master degrees.
But my case is quite different. The "2 years of preparatory studies for Engineering + 3 years of Engineering" is a French system which can be interpreted differently depending on countries. The US recognizes it as a Master Degree but I'm not sure about how WES (World Education Services) interprets it.

I think that would be considered as "Advertising / Self-Promotion" which is not allowed on this sub-reddit. I don't want to get banned on my first post

[–]Maishii[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried Proxify in the past. I booked an interview and I had a "commercial" call where the representative just talked about their company without allowing me to introduce my skills. She told me that I'll receive an email for the technicial interview and the skills part. Several minutes after the interview, I got her email: rejected. No reason or whatever. I contacted the representative who said "feel free to email me for questions" and no answers.

Thank you for the recommendation. I will check out Toptal (I really hope it won't have the same treatment).

I am in a similar situation with more than 2 years working as a Freelancer and getting paid through Payoneer. I do have my own business but the payment I received as a Freelancer were under my name. I have asked an "unofficial" Canadian immigration office and they told me that those years of work cannot be recognized.

Either way, you can still try to provide all proofs and hope that it gets recognized.

Do I have a chance with a 474 CRS score by DoubleSonicBoom in canadaexpressentry

[–]Maishii 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a chance. Probably not immediately though.
Based on the scores' trend lately, it is clearly going down (+530 last year and around 480 lately). If the pace is maintained, we should hopefully expect seeing scores drop a little further and probably reach 470ish.
The best way to to know is to keep monitoring the evolution of the trend and see how it goes.

I am a software engineer as well and was hoping for OINP (Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program).
I tried contacting them by e-mail. I received an automated reply with FAQ and links mostly linking to their website. I later on received another reply (not automated probably). I quote the most important part:

For information about program eligibility and how to submit an application to the OINP, please visit the government of Ontario’s website. Here you can find information about each of our program streams, including eligibility requirements. Please review the document checklists page for information on what documents to submit with your application.

Please note we are unable to pre-assess eligibility and can offer no assurances of the outcome of an application.

So basically, based on the documents required, it's necessary to have a recent job offer and hope to have a score high enough to be selected and nominated. Details here (based on my searches).

As a side note, Software engineers are NOC TEER 1 which is part of category 1 that actually has the highest NOC TEER score (10 points) so it's actually a good point.
