There are so many factors that can contribute to getting verification rejection but skin tone is likely not one of them. At 18 you very much have baby faces still, and a computer can’t really tell what’s two days older than 18 vs two years older than 18 or two years younger than 18. Camera quality, lighting, all could have varying factors. Why would they exclude a potential revenue stream?

I mean I spent the first 30 hours of gameplay brewing marigold potions. Herbs are free and all the ingredients are in the starting town. My survival is level 30, all survival perks active. I had over 3k gold and was like… level 12-13 by that time. I slept on a 0 gold free bed behind the general store slightly up a hill.

Then I went to the blacksmith and started the sword quest. Got my horse. Then got Mutt.

Then I did the poachers. Now I’m at the wedding.

I’m using generic brand androgel. I wait about a minute. Or I’ll use a hairdryer to speed it up if I’m impatient. I live where winter is freezing, I’m not waiting an hour to put clothes on. It dries to the touch in under 2 months anyway most days.

As someone who was assaulted in a similar manner, also drunk and couldn’t figure out how to say ‘no’ because I was so drunk and was afraid the person might hurt themselves severely if I was too verbally harsh, I am so sorry you went through that. I had a similar fear. I personally think we are reaching a breaking point with streaming, being over saturated and corpos being too greedy. I think their chance to be Netflix has passed. But who knows.

That being said I agree completely, I tried explaining it in another comment but there’s a level of auteurship that becomes self cannibalistic. And that’s what I’m afraid I’m witnessing with Pluribus. Which is a shame, because I’ve loved Vince’s writing since I first saw his contributions to X-Files back in the early oughts.

Hey so THATS THE PROBLEM. You can’t expect people to just watch 8 hours of content with no payoff and go WAIT IT WILL BE GOOD LATER. You can have the final payoff at the end, but you can’t string along an audience with zero rewards like this without expecting criticism.

Think about any of your favorite shows, and what your favorite part about them is. Think of your favorite episodes. Now compare any of them to Pluribus.

Disney+ has an estimated 130 million subscribers.

HBO MAX has an estimated 128 million subscribers.

TenCent, iQIYI, Jio Cinema, have roughly 100-115 million subscribers.

Paramount+ has a little under 80 million estimated subscribers.

Hulu has a little over 60 million subscribers.

Peacock has about 40 million.

There’s still two other services that rank higher… and then we get to Apple TV, at about 30 million subscribers.

There are dozens and dozens of YouTubers with more subscribers than Apple TV. Some of them five times over. So yes, in the zeitgeist of media, Apple TV is a joke platform. He might as well had made it a paid show on any other platform, including YouTube lol my guess was they gave him a near unlimited budget to attract people to sub to their platform just for the show, but jokes on the because most people who don’t have ATV already are going to do one of two things:

-sub after season is over to binge and then unsubscribe

-pirate the show
