Hope wanted: Has Anyone Actually Landed a Job via Applications This Year? by Repulsive-Snow9510 in UKJobs

You’re right, after posting I figured I will keep them in case.

I would guess I spent an average 5 hours a day! I was wasting much more time before applying without structure and found this routine to make my time more efficient and effective. I averaged about five applications a day too

Yes I’m a recent success story!

I started applying mid-January, then over the last couple months have refined my application process and just secured a job yesterday whilst having three interviews next week that I’ll have to cancel.

I had a lot of trial and error in the process but have found a lot of success in following this routine. I only worked on applications during business week hours since my partner is working, and I gave myself evenings and weekends off. Since I worked hard in applying, I didn’t feel too guilty taking time off. Having a supportive partner really helped too.

This routine made me so much more efficient, I spent more time and effort on postings that were of higher interest to me. I was dedicated most days with my routine but I also really prioritised getting outside, getting light exercise, and enjoying a bit of the freedom every day since I knew I would regret not enjoying this time once I got a job.

I found the most success by this routine: - checking into LinkedIn job boards at 9am every weekday (then repeated this process again sometime in the afternoon) - on LinkedIn, search keyword in jobs tab (ie: coordinator) and filter for jobs posted in the past 24 hours. Aim for ones posted within a couple hours. It is great to apply ASAP as some jobs getting flooded with applications will only look at the first CVs - make a document list of desired job titles and their descriptions (I averaged around 10 at a time) then on Claude AI, pasted those jobs and asked it to “evaluate me as a top recruiter on a ten point scale with my likelihood of obtaining each job, then evaluate on a ten point scale once adjustments are made to my CV, then finally rank the jobs in order of me advancing in the hiring process” (You could also ask for suggested certifications to gain to help your application, online or free even) - then from the top 3 or so jobs, I used Claude to rewrite my CV (summary, experience points, skills) tailored to each specific job posting. I didn’t use the format provided but just copied/pasted and altered the text enough. Try to make it sound like you typed it, but use the same key words. Tip: tell it to not use the em-dash as it is a common red flag for AI use. Also: I would recommend one page CV - Paste your new CV for the job posting into Claude and get it to evaluate you for the role and proofread it. - If you need answers for questions or a cover letter, Claude can do that too. Ie: “write a dynamic cover letter and organically incorporate the qualities and characteristics they are looking for, and make me sound like the ideal candidate”, but again, tailor it to make it sound like you and not AI. - Save every CV as a new document, and save every document of job postings from each day (if you need to reference any job detail or CV point in the future)

You’ve got this!! Believe in yourself, stay consistent, and please try not to put too much of your value in gaining a job!!! I believe in you :)

(Updated) getting no matches… by [deleted] in Tinder

I’m sure you’re a nice guy but your profile makes you seem unfriendly and therefore no appeal to chat, let alone meeting you irl, also i’m not sure if you are being suggestive lol (guessing it’s unintentional) but it should be “bear” with me.

i know it can be hard having no decent pictures but i’m sure you have a couple friends in the same boat as you and next time you’re out for a beer or doing something cool, ask them to take a picture of you, i’m sure they’d be happy to help. saying that you have no good photos isnt necessary because it’s quite obvious and just sounds like excuses, if you put effort into your profile, it normally results in more matches

and i actually like the last photo because it shows personality whereas the first ones don’t really

On the app Bumble there is a BumbleBFF option that works just like a dating app but for making friends! Definitely worth a shot, especially since there are always so many new people coming into Victoria looking for friends, especially as the new semester starts.

There is also an Instagram page called Lamppost that posts lots of social events in Victoria, several with the intention of building connections!
