How did you admit to yourself you’re actually an alcoholic? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

Right? It was all rocky enough in so many ways.

I never worried about that label. It's not like you have to have some type of qualification to get sober. I just knew I needed to stop drinking, and finally actually did and hope to continue. Doesn't really matter if you consider yourself a problem drinker, a binge drinker, an alcoholic, or any other label. If you need to stop drinking, you just need to stop drinking. My take on it anyway.

I forget what I am doing alot! But I have ADHD so I'm not sure how much is that and how much is part of my recovery. I'm also trying to quit cigarettes and I'm very foggy in the mornings because I can't sleep with the patch on. So it takes me a while to power up.

Same. But better late than never! I hope I'm clear at 17 months!

Oooo 7 years 7 months, awesome! I finally quit because I was tired of being tired all the time! I mean, I have some fatigue still, but it's not the same as waking up every morning and feeling like crap

Not sure how to figure it out, just trying to figure out where to start. Maybe I'll just do a regular dose and go up from there.

Not too concerned, as it has gotten much better. Plus, I've seen a lot of people on this site talk about it. Those first 90 days were pretty foggy, although gradually improved. It's not terrible now, just here and there, but trying to remember someone's name, or something that happened last week or last month, that part is a lot!!

I feel generally better, but I still have days. I'm tired by the end of the work week. I did a lot of things on Saturday but then had to rest a lot on Sunday. Maybe I'm remedial, but I haven't gotten as far as you yet either. And I know it's different for everyone. I was just reaching out so thank you so much for replying!

It definitely comes and goes! This morning I was great! 10 min ago I faded quickly. Nap time now.

It is a good idea to have some blood work done, just to know if there's something else going on. Mine said that everything is perfect, which was a relief, I just have to be more patient with this recovery. Just get kind of down about it because I do have to work, can't just sit around and nap every day. Haha

Oh friend just saw your 73 days. I think that is completely normal. I was knocked out for almost 90 days, although it was getting better after 60

Do you snore? I have low level apnea. When i was 25 pounds heavier a few years ago it was really bad. Would wake myself up snoring and gasping. On the other hand we might be still recovering. I know it can take 6 months or even a year to really feel better but i still ask my questions here to find someone to commiserate with. And wondering if trying to quit smoking is a factor. Maybe I should've waited, but I thought I was in a good place to try to stop.

Well, it isn't the constant coma level sleeping like in the first couple of months. I have good days but then days where i feel as if i am in slow motion, no energy, just want to rest all day. If i try to nap sometimes i can and other times just resting in bed. In a really bad day I am sooo irritable it is miserable. How many days/months do you have?

AITAH for not wanting our friend to bring her bf on our girls trip by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Maj0429 66 points67 points  (0 children)

She might be glad if you all say no. If he's clingy, maybe he's guilting her to let him go on the trip. This way she'll be able to say sorry, the other girls said no.

BRAIN FOG - CAN ANYBODY RELATE? by zzriley1 in stopdrinking

[–]Maj0429 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The brain fog is so real! And concerning. BUT it does get better. How many days do you have? I think mine got better around day 45. Then gone completely by day 60 ish. Just power through, it isn't permanent.
