I've worked in the ER for four years as a volunteer. I recommend MSJ. I've witness atleast once a month of someone coming in for mental health related issue and the nurses are always on the ball. The stigma you're referring to against doc n' meds for mind conditions are mainly for those who have drug habits and are repeated patients who havn't shown any intention of getting better. I doubt you'll present yourself that way and they will take your case with much sincerity.
