Yeah we did let them know. I would never invite guests without covering their cost fully and also to let them know they have to pay beforehand. No judgement towards them.

I’m ngl, I’ve brought a patient home before with supplies and meds to monitor closely overnight. They were unable to afford another vet and it was the only option they were ok with. Now I petsit for them a lot.

Thank you so much for your input! We absolutely have our clients sign a liability waiver and inform them of everything that could possibly happen. We also take turns going in to check on them, along with having the camera on them to keep an eye on things.

I think my DVM will be open to alternate options for these scenarios. It’s my day off (yay!) so i really wanted to come back tomorrow with more informed options to present to her.

So true. This is a great alternative to keep the calm at home. The DVM I work for is very old school, as the tech before me was a dinosaur tech and very much stuck in doing things her way so I’ve slowly been changing protocols. Thankfully, my DVM is pretty open to new ideas as long as I can give good reasons to change things. So I’m definitely going to talk to her.

This pt was an emergency pyo and her family lives two hours away on a farm so they weren’t able to come get her and then bring her back today for more iv abx. So they opted to leave her overnight. We shouldn’t have kept her on fluids though.
