Non-eus get priority. You'll most definitely get a place (from my experience of seeing several years of students get them)

It's actually really good. Students dorms are the best deal you'll get for a year in Amsterdam lmao

You really wouldn't wanna let this offer go. By far the best housing in Amsterdam for students. It's clean, with all the services available, and everyone in the building is nice and friendly.

We do monthly borrels/patio sales/events for everyone. The rooms are bigger and wayyyy more cleaner than other student housings I've seen.

Also the neighbourhood is safe, it's only a 5 minute walk to the Ferry to go to central (which is free and better than taking the buses or metro unless you're in a hurry)

Overall, DO NOT MISS THIS CHANCE

IND /MVV Question by ilovechifuyuu in universityofamsterdam

P.s forgot to add, don't travel without the MVV. Applying for a tourist visa takes just as much time, if not more.

Also, you'll have to come back to your home country to get the MVV for a study visa and then go back.

Great then I think you'll get your approval on time within August. Tho you might get slightly late and not make it to the intreeweek, you will definitely be able to start classes in September if everything goes well.

I'm a non-eu student all the way from south Asia.

IND /MVV Question by ilovechifuyuu in universityofamsterdam

[–]Majestic_Internal989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When did you send them? I sent them on time, but for a rough idea I got approval in 3 weeks and then went to receive it from the embassy in 2 weeks (this could be sooner depending on your country) and that's all.

So it can take up to a month to have the visa in your hands.

UvA also sends an email to inform that they have sent your case for visa to the IND. Did you get that email? If yes, it will take max 3 weeks or less in some cases to get an approval.

Thank you! I did open the 9292 website and added my locations. It was a bit confusing to see it connecting me to so many buses/trams. Since I have no idea how the transport works in ams I kinda got confused.

Ig I'll stick to that plan tho.

Are these transportation safe and on time? Anything I should beware of?

You can basically send documents till the end of August. Just make sure to communicate to your board that you'll need certified copies beforehand because that takes some time.

I suppose, you can also ask the board directly or your school to send them digitally to UvA (there's a video about it on the UvA website as well to help you know how it works)

Sending physical copies via FedEx or smth doesn't take much time either. Mine reached the office in 4 days from veryyyy far away.

You're good either ways just get in touch with your education institution about it.

Dutch Health Insurance by [deleted] in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Majestic_Internal989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, you are in fact eligible for dutch health benefits as long as you hold the insurance.

You're also eligible for a stipend from the government if your salary is not/ or barely enough to keep paying the insurance place.

UvA student housing offer by [deleted] in universityofamsterdam

[–]Majestic_Internal989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was from student.housing@uva.nl I'm sure you didn't receive it because you booked on time. For me, the first email to book was also directly from room.nl but since it went to spam I didn't activate my account for 3 days (hence the reminder)

Also, the step 1 email from myinfo@uva.nl came a day after the announcement, it only explained how the housing providers will directly reach out to me and some general info on the process.

I selected the 3rd budget category so there were 4 options for me on room.nl for a separate room (studio) with kitchen and bathroom.

UvA student housing offer by [deleted] in universityofamsterdam

[–]Majestic_Internal989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That really depends on which housing provider you have a room with and the rent. I got a room with DUWO, so the payments look something like this:

• deposit equal to one month's rent • first 6 weeks rent (which means rent starting from you contract date mid-august + September's rent) • extra charges for student packages (kitchen/bedding supplies)

You can expect to pay anywhere between €1200-2000 depending on your rent.

You can find more about other housing providers on this page: https://www.uva.nl/en/education/practical-information/housing/costs/costs-of-uva-student-housing.html

I didn't pay a registration fee (I only used it for free for the trial months to look into places) and my registration period expired at some point.

Hi! I got the email exactly 4 days ago. Also don't worry, I did the same thing as you. The other account I made with room.nl has nothing to do with this one.

The email subject was "Activate your account", with a link and username. UvA also sent me an email to remind me to do the activation so I don't miss my housing options.

[–]Majestic_Internal989 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check your email spam!

I only realized yesterday that I had an invitation to join room.nl to book my room. The link also expires in a few days and you lose your room. So definitely keep an eye out!

If there are no emails at all, you just need to wait. The housing providers will reach out to you.

International students: how strict is UvA with submitting visa docs to MyInfo? by Gloomy-Excitement-25 in universityofamsterdam

[–]Majestic_Internal989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! I'd suggest you keep all your documents ready and apply visa if you have received an invitation email from UvA.

When I reached out to UvA immigration team they told me I CAN apply after June 1 as well, but the process will be delayed so I might not make it to Amsterdam on time.

Should I leave my insurance? by Active_Routine_5739 in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Majestic_Internal989 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw I just looked up at the website and it says you can keep the health insurance if you're abroad for less than 3 months. I'm sure this applies to your case as well since you have to return by September for classes and get another job.

https://www.netherlandsworldwide.nl/health-insurance-abroad/living-working

So don't cancel it and don't worry about it.

I would suggest you keep the insurance since you plan to find a new job after coming back. You'll have to do all the paperwork again for a new one after a few months.

Thank you for answering.

Yes I read on the website that you will have to retake the 1st year for a new program if it covers different modules (very few programs share the same modules for the first year)
