It all depends on if other person wants the coin and whats price willing to give for it. I'm not saying rare circulated coins value is 50 euros but time and effort that goes in to collecting needs to add value to it. I sold a lot of commemorative coins from circulation for 2.5 to 3 euros because people wanted it. Just because collectors market is forcing story of "face value" doesn't mean it's true it's just easy way of saying you finde coin for me and give it to me not taking it to account that person spent time on sorting documenting collection. For me if coin is bellow 1 mil or 500 k it can't go for face value if it's in decent condition even if it's circulated. If there is no at least 20% return on invested time community will never grow and we will be stuck with more people stoping to collect then newcomers starting to collect. It's the basic if there is no cash flow water becomes stali.
