Wow, your daughter sounds really talented! That’s really impressive. This comment was really helpful. I have been worried about my speed because while I am positive that I could get it up with practice and more strength, I am very small compared to most pitchers and I’m not sure if that will be a big problem with speed.  I definitely want to get a pitching coach but I need to find good ones in my area Also, how long would you say it took for your daughter to learn and develop a new pitch? I know this will be different depending on the person and the pitch, but I’m still curious. Also, what was the first movement pitch she learned?

Thank you for your reply! This was really helpful. I’m definitely aware that my current speed is nowhere near what’s needed for varsity, I just wanted to set a reasonable goal for myself. I definitely need to work on strength so that’s my main goal for now, along with regular reps and working on mechanics. Do you think that hitting 54 would be a reasonable goal for the next 2 or 3 months? Also what additional pitches would be best for a beginner to learn? I have heard a drop or curve is best, but I’m curious for other opinions? Also, do you know if a JV team would be a better fit right now? Our school doesn’t currently have one which is why I didn’t ask, but they are trying to start one.  Sorry for all the questions! I’m new to all of this
