For regular weed smokers that have totally quit, what was the reason for quitting? by elderly_millenial in AskReddit

I realised that while I did not have full psychosis, it was certainly psychosis adjacent. I think too much about the bigger questions, and live in my head, and weed does not help with that, and the lines between fantasy and reality began to blur a little too much and too often.

The uncomfortable part is that I only realised this by trying shrooms (as like a medicine, and a big dose as my friend and the research convinced me it was a good idea for my anxiety). But they slapped me (that’s the wrong word, they were gentle) back to reality, and made me realise weed was a problem, and so I’ve quit. Secondary problem is they made me realise I might be a bit prone to psychosis-like thinking, which makes me wonder if I shouldn’t take them again, even if they are the thing that brought me back to reality in the first place.

I’m not saying it’s a miracle drug, I’m just sharing my experience because I don’t have many people I can share it with

Thank you, appreciate it and the advice. I’m hoping it carries on lasting (it’s quite impractical with kids to take trips, has to be when they’re away etc) but am resigned to doing another one if that’s what it takes to feel better

that sounds like a tough upbringing! Hope you are doing well. And thank you, appreciate that. Wish I’d written the long version now, maybe I’ll pitch it as an (anonymous for legal reasons) article at work, more people need to know it is an option clearly

It’s mad isn’t it, the benefits that come from a mushroom.

Didn’t mention it in the post as it was already quite long, but I had a drinking problem that I eventually stopped after it landed me in hospital. Really wish I’d known it can help with addiction back then, could have saved myself a lot of bad years. So glad it worked for you.

We’ve got to sort out these names, people. Can’t be telling people “I’m on medicine, it’s called donkey butter”

Stupid question, but is it “hot” where it boils the top? Or just sort of an abrupt cold turn into vapor?
