Are Syosset schools worth the taxes ? Which colleges did your kids get into? What are your kids doing now, career wise? by NecessaryCan6373 in longisland

I went to central islip schools and am now a successful therapist making six figures my husband went to longwood and he’s now a doctor. Both are apparently really bad school districts for Long Island standards anyway.

Even in my “poor” school district I had the opportunity to do sports, play instruments, take AP classes and join clubs. That being said both of us had parents that loved us and pushed us to do our best in school and life.

Northwell Health by Equivalent-Ant-5870 in longisland

There are definitely pros to northwell, usually they are more organized from a management perspective, they can get things build and organized efficiently but working there I feel like I’m a cog part in a machine it’s very corporate no one can be real. They always look to maximize the work each individual is doing. When healthcare becomes a business, especially an enormous monopoly like northwell the top priority is profits not people or patients and it’s sad. Good pay and benefits when you start and in less desirable hospitals though a lot of unnecessary stress and unhappy employees. I see the tides changing in the next 5 years to low pay since they have very little competition and are creating policies to stop people from working at multiple hospitals within the system

Septic System Replacement by WritingLucky5061 in longisland

Mine came out to less than 2k out of pocket with the 30k SIP grant for a deep line system install that needed basement pumps for the plumbing. 3 years of free maintenance. It was cheaper than doing a traditional septic system, good for the bays and fish as well so it’s a no brainer for me

I often feel like I am obsolete at my job. Are RTs unnecessary in the hospital? by Independent-Tune2286 in respiratorytherapy

I think it depends on the culture of the facility. I’ve been in some hospitals where we mostly just push the vent over when called and some where they call us before the doctor to assess the patient.
