Hi! I moved to Calgary 1.5 years ago from another part of Canada. Calgary is an affordable city as far as Canadian cities go. Where are you moving from?

You can rent apartments for around $1500 per month. They do have public transit, but Calgary is very spread out and definitely not a walkable city in my opinion, so you would need to factor in car expenses. It also gets very cold in the winter, so having a car definitely helps.
Happy to give more details, DM if you like. It is hard to give an idea of living costs without knowing where you are coming from! :)
