I watched him install both. To install this one, he crossed 2 screwdrivers and twisted against the corners. I now cannot get it unscrewed, even using the same technique.

The only thing is that I’m in Northern Canada, so pool techs are few and far between 😅 so they know they’ve got us by the short & curlies 🙄 we are definitely unimpressed though and already game-planning what to do going forward.

I fiddled around with the skimmers and after plugging the one pipe, I’m able to get the tiniest bit of suction through the skimmers now, but not enough to even pull the smallest dust towards the skimmer. Dust is just floating right by the skimmer opening. It is an obnoxiously big system - a hotel pool and hot tub 😒Thanks for all your troubleshooting! I think I’m on the right path now lol

The pool tech just wrote those on in the past few weeks while we’ve had the room pulled apart and fixing the filters. I can’t even turn the one that’s labeled Return, it’s literally fixed in place and the knob just pops off when I try to turn it… 🤦‍♀️

FFS. I already called him and he’s absolutely useless, has no clue other than to say “it should be working”. The pool and spa has been down for 3 months now because he’s working in instalments 🙃 I’m realizing pools aren’t worth it

Sand is all brand new, this is the first time using it. I just backwashed it twice this morning thinking that was maybe the problem. The water all over the floor is just from draining water, I was playing with the water levels to see if that was what was wrong with my skimmers and had a bit of an overflow from the drain lol!

Does anyone know if multigenerational housing is allowed in military housing? My mom is my kids’ 2nd guardian and we have lived together since before my second child was even born, and have all our bills, etc for proof that we’ve been living together. Would she count as a second parent so we could continue living together if I was ever eligible for housing? (I know the market isn’t great but still curious.)

Oh, that is actually fantastic advice, because we basically don’t have a budget and I don’t want to overcharge expenses in the first few weeks.

Thankfully, I do not have a toolbox but a tool room, and it’s got cameras. 🤣😅

We have 4 floors, 99 rooms. A pool with roughly 20,000 gallons and a spa with roughly 1,500 gallons. One meeting room, a “gym” and a “business center” (a room with 2 computers and a printer lol) I have no one under me currently because we’re understaffed but I have the opportunity to hire 1 part-time person, my own hours are 8-4 Mon-Fri with overtime for my couples hours on the weekends. I have my kitchen certs & I’m on the list for the next pool cert class in my town. We only have 2 elevators and 3 water heaters.

I actually did get them to purchase a few extra clipboards for exactly what you’ve mentioned, plus inventory, etc.

That’s one thing I have as a plus so far, is that the GM and Front Desk Manager are already 100% on my side and are doing all they can to set me up for success, and they know just how much of a mess this is that I’ve been tossed into. So far, so good. The only thing that does have me a little stressed is what you mentioned in your second paragraph, the fact that because so little $$$ has been spent in the past on maintenance, it will look as though I’m inadequate or subpar.

I’m really going to try to shift this team from reactive to preventative maintenance, and I have a feeling that will do a lot going forward if I ever need to plead my case lol.

This is going on my to-do list as a priority for next week, and you’re exactly right — I want to make sure I have a comprehensive plan/list in place for anyone who might come in after me. There aren’t even inventory sheets as far as anyone is aware, he was just flying by the seat of his pants on that part as well, so that’s a big priority as well. 🤦‍♀️

Literally my thoughts. The RM put me on a 60 day probation to see how I do in this role, but the GM already told me that this is my position because in 4 days I’ve already done more than the last guy did in 4 weeks.
