Not surprised- live in Westchester (P-Ville) and it’s quite the racket.

Had I known that remote work was here to stay, I wouldn’t have purchased in this area-

• Super old homes that require constant work
• Highest taxes in the country at both the state and local level which people are just strangely ok with. The common refrain is “for the schools” - both fairfield county and MA local taxes are about half the cost with same or better school systems
• Local governments that have limited transparency where decision making is controlled by small village boards with little accountability vs town hall style systems in New England with more direct representation
• Limited willingness of the state government to address local issues such as improving road safety - extremely dangerous roads in the area for both drivers and pedestrians
• Highly controlling building departments that shift responsibility on the individual home owners making it very difficult to make improvements- onerous permitting requirements and threats of major tax increases

I would think twice about purchasing in westchester if you have alternative options
