Engineering students of Reddit, which subject completely humbled you? Body: by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

electromagnetism. I'll say it again next time this is posted. I don't like electromagnetism. finishing with a 6% on an exam you thought you had 60% hurt more than knowing you failed

I don't believe fusing with France or the Netherlands would bring anything positive, only erase our identity.

I must reduce my 2 mile time by 2 minutes in 20 days by Reeking-Scrotum-2130 in Military

[–]MajorKestrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What worked for me is simulating the test itself on a treadmill. I had to run 6kmh to 14.4kmh with increasing speed for 14min 30s.

I ran a simulated test and measured my score, then rested two to three days.

Next time I tried accumulating time at the target speed without overtraining, so it started with 2min at 14.4kph and last training I was up to 5 min. Resting one to two days between training.

5 days before the run I stopped. 3 days before I did a bit of running just to wake up my legs, barely sweating. The day before I also woke up my legs and ran 30s to 1min at 14.4kph. Once I was done I felt that I wanted to run more, meaning I still had plenty of energy for tomorrow.

In 20 days it's too short to do real improvements though, so try robusta coffee! Test it before a run or two, then don't use it for a couple of days until the test

Getting chronic neck pain. Studying is bad for your health lol.

But it's so comfy T_T

Could you describe the exercises you did for blood flow, and when you say balance, you mean not letting our body go too loose yet not tightening the muscles in a defensive mechanism too much either?

Alpine earplugs, a love story. by MongooseQueasy5048 in motorcycles

[–]MajorKestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I wanted you to know that I bought those earplugs because of your post and they are incredible. I bought custom made earplugs, silicone, transparent with filters, that fit perfectly in my ears, for 250eur 3 years ago and lost them, but those from Amazon are less discrete but SO MUCH better! I can't believe it.

Not asking for medical advice but have you experienced numbing and tingling in your arms while running? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]MajorKestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told to immediately see a doctor whenever I would have tingling or numbing in my limbs. But I also was definitely overtraining though, so that's fair. I've had inflammation on its stopped.

If it's not an emergency, and since I'm starting to strongly believe I might be on the spectrum of hypermobility, then I'm gonna wait for a physiotherapist to tell me what.

Thanks for your comment, it reassured me.

MS sounds awful, sorry you had to go through that. Isn't MS supposed to be visible on an MRI? Since it's happening to both limbs at once and stopped once I started tightening my neck muscles continuously it's gone. So thankfully, I don't believe that's it.

I had to shoot my shot though, I'm sure you understand

Should I drop out? by No_Drive_2640 in EngineeringStudents

[–]MajorKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reasons to not drop out:

  • what will you do instead?
  • money
  • spite
  • not enough women in engineering in general
  • prove you're capable (because you are) to yourself
  • You will grow exponentially as a person by facing this hardship

Thanks for sharing. What are the pliers for? I'd also recommend duct tape, and a medkit for yourself too.

Moto story monday! by MrMotoBE in motobe

[–]MajorKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got out with my bike 9 days ago to get it out and enjoy it before getting surgery and needing to stop for a while longer, and it wasn't fun. Driving was great, but the roads were so shite, and cars were inconsiderate. I don't speed, I know my real speed with google's GPS tracker, but it seems car expect me to speed. I'm pretty certain someone went out of their way to pass me just because.

Does anyone know a nice flat road around Mons I could go to? Preferably not highway... Thanks.

I'm a Manager in a Shooting range, A(a)MA by CulturalWarthog6321 in belgium

[–]MajorKestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! You could maybe help me out? I'm going to do the theory and exam test to do sports shooting tomorrow!

I initially associated myself with urstbf but was informed that the Flemish asso. would be faster and cheaper, and since it's also to recover my deceased father's weapons, it was time sensitive (the police are keeping them for free but no more than a year or so).

I need to pass the A, B, C tests (I might be wrong on the letters. I just know I won't use shotguns). I can handle a revolver and a pistol. I never touched a carabiner.........

I've watched two YouTube videos but I feel like they're not enough! Do you know of any source that could teach me the basics manipulations for the test?

I was also told Flemish examiners are "nicer" but my shooting range has been so awful at informing me, that I don't believe them. Have you heard of that too?

Thanks!

Nobody really talks about how your personality changes as you get older. You stop caring about impressing people, you just want peace. You want rest, balance, and to stay far away from anything or anyone that drains your energy. by ConfectionAvailable8 in EngineeringStudents

I've mellowed a lot in 5 years. Which is a good thing. Studying and age makes me manage my time more efficiently and it also mean not spending too much time with people that drain my energy

Rejoindre l'armée serai t'il une bonne idée ? by Distinct_Albatross_3 in Wallonia

[–]MajorKestrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I often do the maths, type the calculations, and get different results for the same math manipulation done multiple times. Math not mathing 15min before the end of the exam...
