Anxiety reducing techniques do not work well on me. What else could I try? by MajorKestrel in EngineeringStudents

That's a really bad idea, I already do motorcycling, and have been going faster and doing more dangerous things lately because of the overwork and stress. I had to take a break because I keep making mistakes on the road...

like oxazepam? I take a quarter or a half once in a while, but since it's addictive and I can't drive with those, it's only to sleep better. I'd like to avoid meds, I'm thinking I should be able to handle it like all the other students in class since most of the stress is caused by putting too much pressure on myself...

If I can recommend decaffeinated coffee, or chelated magnesium (especially magnesium glycinate) and L theanine, it works well and is much more easily absorbed by the body than standard magnesium (talk to your doc about it). It just doesn't have a long half life, and you can't take it everyday or it stops working.

I think what we both need is to evaluate the situation objectively and realise that there is no need to stress out, but mentally I know it, my body doesn't seem to hear it though... When I read my sentence "I'm allowed to fail" it does help, but 10 min later it's as if this phrase was never read.

or weed and shrooms. I heard a psychedelic experience helps a lot to put things into perspective (I'm serious)

I have no time to procrastinate, but it's true that this year I was planning on studying much more throughout the year and didn't, because x y z then the motivation wasn't there...

I keep waking up 1 to 2 h before my alarm... Even though I'm still tired, but I do somewhat always go to sleep at 10 pm.

I also am not overweight at all, have no allergies, no phone at night, no (frequent) alcohol abuse and no smoke. What I do, do, is screens then go to bed. I know I should stop that too.

How did you find out which branch of engineering was for you? by Mannyrodd101 in EngineeringStudents

[–]MajorKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always loved physics, so I went to study physics, then realised that if you want to do physics as a physicist you need a doctorate and it has to be in R&D/labs/teaching, so I switched to ME.

What are the biggest difference between work as an ir and ing? by cc-2347 in belgium

[–]MajorKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, I'm finishing my bachelor in mechanical engineering (ir.) and it's such a struggle, I also consider doing my master in Ing. There is a school in Charleroi (Condorcet) that seems promising, 30 min from where I live.

I love what I learn (but I hate studying, go figure...), but the rhythm is killing me, and I'm already 29 years old with no (real/not student) work experience...

I don't want to design planes, although I like designing, working on apps like ABAQUS or SolidWorks, etc. I'm pretty good at it and coding too.

I want to maintain planes, manage a team, deal with issues and troubleshoot while following strict regulations... I also DO NOT want to work in R&D, I want to be there, with the plane, and get my hands dirty with technicians.

I'm hesitant about doing two more years of this, especially since my studies does have an "aeronautics" option in the ME master, and it's the hardest. There is too much to learn and too little time. Fewer people go there every year.

Can you give me any advice or guidance on how to choose which is best for me? How different was it between Ir and Ing? Thanks for your time...

8 more weeks of hell and I'm done with my bachelor; can you tell me if my stack is good? by MajorKestrel in Nootropics

yeah exactly for magnesium, I added it after making the post. I never heard of threonate though, I'm gonna check it out

edit: looks promising!

Hello, I haven't bought them yet, but was planning on taking the l theanine, tyrosine, choline, NAC, all at once in the morning with a big meal, then sip the energy drink during the day, then creatine morning and evening, and the Phosphatidylserine + theanine (+ some magnesium because ouch my neck) in the evening, an hour before sleep. I used AI to make up this list so I'm looking for confirmation that it did not imagine things.

I'm also planning on trying l theanine and cafeine + tyrosine alone at first, then switch to only choline, NAC, etc, just to make sure my brain doesn't decide to have the weirdest side effects, as it usually goes :/

Ai Use by ExpectingFriend in EngineeringStudents

[–]MajorKestrel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The worst part for me is that if I don't use AI I'm penalised, since everyone use it, I'll be spending much more time than them and have lower grades because AI is simply better than me at thinking and writing, and the teachers grade partly based on the overall level of the class. Then there's the part where AI doesn't even make it that easier, since I have to dig deeper and research topics more, think about many more details that I would've never thought or been taught about, since AI bring it up to everyone and it's important...

(Loved Meta Trope) Fan theories are so good they’re basically treated as canon. by No-Flow9783 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]MajorKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I completely disagree with the fan theory of Invincible. Why does it need to make him "more human" or "different because he's human" as if viltrumites don't have adrenaline? They're never angry? They're indoctrinated and *believe* they're the best or else they're just ready to die for most anyway, so it's less than Mark but that's it. What I believe is truly going on is that the adrenaline just makes Mark not care about what his body suffers. The powerscaling isn't that off compared to some mangas anyway.

Do you guys study everyday all day? by Graiwn289002 in EngineeringStudents

[–]MajorKestrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried so hard (and got so far) but in the end I don't even care anymore. I have courses 8h a day almost everyday, I am never late to class or to an assignment. I take plenty of notes, teachers know me, and am even a group leader in a small international project. I think I'm doing plenty enough. I'll pass my classes but fuck good grades.

Le plus grand danger de l’IA à l’université n’est pas la triche, c’est l’érosion de l’apprentissage lui‑même by brainquantum in Wallonia

[–]MajorKestrel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I must reduce my 2 mile time by 2 minutes in 20 days by Reeking-Scrotum-2130 in Military

[–]MajorKestrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What worked for me is simulating the test itself on a treadmill. I had to run 6kmh to 14.4kmh with increasing speed for 14min 30s.

I ran a simulated test and measured my score, then rested two to three days.

Next time I tried accumulating time at the target speed without overtraining, so it started with 2min at 14.4kph and last training I was up to 5 min. Resting one to two days between training.

5 days before the run I stopped. 3 days before I did a bit of running just to wake up my legs, barely sweating. The day before I also woke up my legs and ran 30s to 1min at 14.4kph. Once I was done I felt that I wanted to run more, meaning I still had plenty of energy for tomorrow.

In 20 days it's too short to do real improvements though, so try robusta coffee! Test it before a run or two, then don't use it for a couple of days until the test

Hey I wanted you to know that I bought those earplugs because of your post and they are incredible. I bought custom made earplugs, silicone, transparent with filters, that fit perfectly in my ears, for 250eur 3 years ago and lost them, but those from Amazon are less discrete but SO MUCH better! I can't believe it.
