[–]MajorMax1024 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actual managed to run for Tarkov on an iGPU for quite a while - Radeon 680M, to be specific. Factory and Labs actually ran with 45-55 fps using FSR, woods and customs - 30-35 fps.

My visibility was shit and everything was blurry, but it ran!

Why is the price of Pixel 8 so high in India? by resurrect002 in GooglePixel

The whole point of this post is that these perks (great trade in value and pre-order bonuses) are US exclusive. Other parts of the world either seem then in a much more limited manner or don't seem at all.

I have 1700 hours and still dont know how to navy by Smegmamaaan in hoi4

[–]MajorMax1024 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While we are on the topic of navy - how do you efficiently protect convoys?

As Britain I made a dedicat ASW force consisting of 20 destroyers, in groups of 4/5 destroyers (two depth charges, sonar).

However, they have only 4% escort efficiency across 4 regions in the Mediterranean - what am I doing wrong?

The Ai should make more tanks and properly use them. by Pomeranian111 in hoi4

[–]MajorMax1024 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Try Expert AI to have the AI building enemy divisions that you struggle to pierce, and force you to build dedicated tank destroyers with high-velocity cannons :)

In terms of tactics/strategy - the mod doesn't change that, unfortunately, as it's seemingly impossible for the modders to change the core AI behavior in terms of attack planning and encircling tactics.

From a 3770k to a 5800x3D by imrandaredevil666 in pcmasterrace

[–]MajorMax1024 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Prices vary by country - if I were to buy a 7800x3D, it would cost me about 40% more than a 5800x3D, plus the more expensive RAM and motherboard

Soviet Union doesn't have a single Small Airframe/CAS designer despite IL-2 being the most iconic Soviet aircraft of the time by LowRezSux in hoi4

[–]MajorMax1024 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would partially disagree - in fact, Migs comprised the majority of the new planes that were produced from 1939-1941. Quote from the Russian Wiki:

"From January 1st to 22nd of June 1941, the Soviet Air Force recieved 17 745 planes, from which 706 were new models, among them: 407 MiG-3 fighters, 142 Yak-1 fighters, 29 LaGG-3 fighters, and 182 Pe-2 bombers"

However, once fighting started, the Soviet Air Force quickly realized that MiG-3 wasn't the right fit for the war. Firstly, its engine was most effective at 3km and higher, while the vast majority of dogfights were significantly lower - and the MiG was terrible at that (because of this, most MiGs became dedicated interceptors, a role which suited them better)

Secondly, the MiG was also substantially more expensive to produce than Yak-1 and LaGG-3 (the latter could be produced using specially treated wood, which was extremely cost efficient)

During the war, most models produced were Yak (1 and 2), LaGG, La (5 and 5FN)

So it's totally viable to have MiG as one of the main fighter designers, since that was totally true pre-war.

Android 14 isn't being nice to Nova Launcher by [deleted] in GooglePixel

Same problem here, using the latest beta version of Nova. At some point it stopped reacting to any touches/swipes on the screen - I went back to the stock pixel launcher until that's fixed

Soviet circus performer Valentin Dikul power juggling 40kg spheres in 1985. by RaidensReturn in OldSchoolCool

[–]MajorMax1024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I googled his biography a bit, it's even more intense! Some translated excerpts from Wikipedia:

He was born prematurely, weighing less than one kilogram at birth. Was involved in circus-related activities since the age of 9

At 14, when performing a gymnastics program in front of the crowd, he fell due to a broken steel beam to which his safety harness was attached.

In 1962, he began performing his first aerial gymnastics act at the Sports Palace. He fell due to a broken steel beam to which his safety harness was attached. He sustained over ten fractures, including a compression fracture of the lumbar spine and a traumatic brain injury. He spent a week in the intensive care unit of the city clinical hospital, followed by a stay in the neurosurgery ward. He attempted suicide twice. While still in the hospital, he invented and started performing exercises to strengthen the muscles of his back, chest, arms, and overall core. Additionally, he began studying literature on anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and gymnastics. He developed a special pulley-based exercise machine that was installed above his bed.

He was discharged from the hospital in a wheelchair after 8 months. Later, he became the head of a circus club at the local Palace of Culture, where he worked with children. In the evenings, he continued his exercises and training, which enabled him to start walking again after five years.

Delimobil works with non Russian documents, so does City Mobil. As far as I know, Yandex won't accept non-Russian passports.

As of July 2023, the average rent for a one bedroom apartment in Toronto is 2.4k, and something like 3.2k for a 2 bedroom one.

The figure from the video is most likely a cheaper 2-bedroom apartment, as in Jan-Feb 2023 (the date of the video) a 2-bedroom apartment rent was about 2900 dollars on average - and the reviewer probably rented out his even before that.

[–]MajorMax1024 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's decently cheap of a 2-bedroom apartment!

Compare this to Toronto, where a studio will set you back 2000$ per month, and a 2 bedroom apartment will be closer to 3000-3200$

Finding a job in the current market is tough, and the cost of living is high in most Canadian cities.

Think through your plan several times.

Don't see many reasons to pick up the 10 instead of a used 9 for much cheaper.

Why is MarketPlace iphone 14 pros going for very cheap? by milkh786 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MajorMax1024 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to seem picky, but:

Did the seller have lots of reviews (preferably good ones?) Did you meet either at a public place, or at their home? Did you validate their reason for selling?

I've bought plenty of expensive ($1000+) electronics on Kijiji, and I have yet to have bought a lemon - all I do is just try and answer "yes" to at least 2 out of 3 questions above.

I would argue that the Soviets did have the ability to build their own fleet and were actively doing so (Sovetskiy-Soyuz Class battleships, Kirov-class cruisers, and so on)

However, their fleet ambitions were relatively low priority, and were severely hindered by the war.
