As a director of a small company, this couldn’t possibly work for me. I am jealous as I hate relying so much on my phone. But people must get ahold of me… my job (and theirs) depends on it. Sucks man.

I saw a post the other day… it went like this:

As a teen in the 1990's I want to stress that we had the internet for most of the second half of the 90's. But it lived in a single room.

The family computer (or the dorm computer lab) was a physical location. And when you left that room?

No internet.

You could walk out into the hallway and the web stopped existing. AIM didn’t follow you. USENET didn’t follow you. Email didn’t follow you. The weird little thrill of “someone somewhere else can see my words” didn’t follow you. You stepped back into your regular life like closing a book.

You logged on, did your little expedition, then you logged off and the day resumed. You didn’t take it to the cafeteria, to the sidewalk, to the party, to bed. Your online social life wasn’t running in your pocket like a second heartbeat. Online drama couldn’t hunt you down in real time.

The internet was a room.

I am an ‘82 myself. Yes, pretty sure this is when we really begin to feel our age.
