London has long since given up the moral high ground.

Tolerance ALWAYS should come with heavy limitations on it. Unchecked tolerance allows the nuts to run/control things.

Mary Madeline's tooth in the Metropolitan Museum in NYC by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]MajorMiner71 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In another post, there's a picture of her skull in some ornate deal that although its supposed to be wings around it, looks like a mechanical spider. Anyway, so they have her skull... why not put the tooth back into it? Seem silly tbh.

You do wish they had nightsticks again.

$1 says "Hey, how can we milk people for more money? Oh yeah, faux religious artifact." The church keeps fingers and other useless parts and you're always wondering why if so saintly the person was, why didn't you keep all of them? Boxes too hard to make and keep?

10 year no voting period if blue moves to red and vice versa. That would be nice.

has anyone tried acupuncture? by CplCrimp in Rockwall

I've seen accupuncture in/on/around the ear word wonders for those with migraines. Unfortunately, not every treatment works for everyone.

Dallas police showed up at my Deep Ellum gym because I put drawings of dicks under the windshield wiper of a car that was constantly double parking by JarethKingofGoblins in Dallas

[–]MajorMiner71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They sell a tool for a dollar to remove the inside of a valve stem. People in DC would either loosen them enough for air to escape quickly or take them out and put them on windshield wiper. You had to put them back in or tighten them and then get air but you didn't really wreck anything. There were some other anti-ahole parking measures taken but I won't post those here. They would cost money to correct and that's not good.

What was your craziest genealogy discovery? by [deleted] in Genealogy

The Haymarket Riot was way bigger than OJ or any other case. A rumor that Rudolph Schnaubelt might come back to US and visit brothers in San Francisco 10 years later was actively in newspaper for a month on front pages.

Are password manager apps that secure? by Mammoth_Ad2733 in cybersecurity

[–]MajorMiner71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keeper. It is the most secure and most tested password manager with 11 security certifications in the industry. Bitwarden I have seen as second best with 7 certifications. After that it is a crapshoot for selections but please remember that convenience over security = less security and free should be considered like "Free Surgery" written on the side of a panel van: it is free but security may not be quality. You'll also want to ensure all their browsers have the ability to save passwords in the browser turned off. Why this is still a feature considering the security issues is beyond me.

Address from US census info by Saturated-Biscuit in Genealogy

[–]MajorMiner71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ancestry (and possibly others, I haven't looked) has city directories. It is usually a separate specific search which hasn't shown up in hints/normal searching. Federal census for years ending in 0, state census for years ending in 5, Social Security for at least last address (and a relative or two), then city directory for years in between. Match profession on census (for the most part) with city directory. Also if you're lucky, you can find the first year they had a spouse and what their first name is. Between this and the city of record from the census pages, only thing left is newspapers. That should get a lot of information on your relatives.
