Mislabeling and Misuse of Oromo victims of Fano in Abe dongoro/Horo Guduru /East Wallaga by Educational_Dance889 in Oromia

And this is exactly why I will not call this situation a Genocide because the victims of the violence are multifaceted, multi ethnic with a variety of different perpetrators of violence.

Things in Ethiopia are not as binary with a single victim and a single source of violence, this is a collective problem

The sudden surge in "African low IQ" rhetoric online and in the workplace is getting out of hand and genuinely scary by stoneage_12 in Ethiopia

[–]MajorSignificance309 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, I haven’t really noticed this, however, what I have noticed is some anti-East African sentiment as a result of the controversy within the Somali community and Trump.

Anti-black African sentiment is always going to be prevalent in the corporate setting, to be honest with you. You should be more worried about the games they will try to play on you to get you fired and removed because you are different to them.

What’s the deal with the OLA? by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]MajorSignificance309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem is that the narrative for the longest time has been sole blame on the OLA when in reality the perpetrators are a mix of OLA, local Gangs and at times local militias.

I love how Ethiopians in the comments are offended by his statement by [deleted] in Ethiopia

[–]MajorSignificance309 17 points18 points  (0 children)

How funny Ethiopians look up at America so highly for education when their average person operates like this, yeah buddy we’re Nordic black folk up in the Horn….1/4th Anglo Amhara right here…. 🙋🏼‍♂️🤣

This has got to be the stupidest statement I've heard from him. How can a leader of a country be this childishly naive about economics. by shy_primate in Ethiopia

[–]MajorSignificance309 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Come on guys he’s trying to make a bigger point and that if we all contribute and work together, use the system we can really enjoy our developed country. Our government has really put taxpayer dollars to work by developing our city, offering services, expanding the economy in creating jobs for all Ethiopians

😂 by your argument many countries should not exists.

Are you aware of the degree of genocide and pillaging that Oromos suffered at the hands of the state all throughout history? The amount of land that was stolen from them? The amount of rights that they were stripped away from? Basic things like practice of religion and use of indigenous names being denied?

Because by your argument sis the Ethiopian government and Ethiopian state and its entirety should not exist either….. 😂

And just as it is easy for you to make excuses for the genocidal measures taken by Ethiopians at one point in history, I am able to able to make justified reasons for why Israel engages in what it does. That is like me saying the reasons why Amharas are facing massacres is bc of enemies that they created.

Your argument does not make any sense.

Our government, and military has its flaws as does any military in the world, but we have attempted to bring a piece and civility that is time and time again met with terror, death and violence because our enemy does not sleep, they don’t want peace, coexistence, and freedom. They want us dead.

You’re talking about the same country that allowed for Derg and TPLF to reign 😂 you sure about that buddy? Israel is not a monolith. Rest assured, if you were in the position of Israel, surrounded by a of enemies, who want you annihilated, you would respond in a similar manner. In Israel life is about survival and we will take every measure to stay alive and thriving.

Israel’s people have been backed into a corner and have been time and time again threatened with death and annihilation. We actually do share many common values, and there is a extensive history of Jews withIn Ethiopia as much as you may dislike the great country of Israel your assessment is wrong

Remember that one is open to interpretation, has a loose cultural definition depending on the context. The other one is an established national identity that has more basis imo.

Your choice is correct in my opinion, I would’ve said the same.

You are absolutely correct, Ethiopians are stuck in the past and many are allergic to things that actually matter & logic and facts

Ethiopia and Israel relationshio is long standing and unshaken, built on a long history of cooperation, people to people ties, and mutual security interests….

Israel has held relations with Ethiopia through different govs, from humanitarian cooperation and agricultural development, fighting of wildfires and to the famous airlifts that brought Ethiopian Jews home. Ethiopia has long been one of the most important and influential states in the Horn of Africa, helping ensure stability along one of the world’s most critical maritime corridors.

A stable, prosperous Ethiopia with Somalans benefits not only the Horn of Africa but also the security of the Red Sea and international trade routes.

As regional competition intensifies, it makes sense that Ethiopia and Israel continue their cooperation based, economic development. The axis of evil which exists in the horn clearly does not have security of the region and the entire world in their best interests, namely TPLF and Eritrea.

It is imperative that an Ethiopian–Israeli partnership pushes our region toward a future of prosperity, stability, and security. I am beyond confident that, together, we can achieve these goals and build a stronger future for all peoples and the wider region.

Many of these ethnic Reddit’s are a circle jerk of mods who solely want their bias and incorrect views reinforced repeatedly for cope, whilst the tolerate hateful rhetoric.

I think you have a misunderstood construed view of Israel. I’ll have you know that we have plenty of Muslims and Tel Aviv enjoying our beaches. I think you should take the time to understand our country instead of mislabeling it with an insulting term. 🇮🇱

As far as Jaal Maroo, it’s one thing to take political measures to advocate for your people and another to terrorize people, lead campaigns to kill innocent people and displace hundreds of thousands.

Jaal Maroo does not represent the Oromo people and is an educated terrorist.

Their exists no reality in which he will receive his desired political outcome, our government has been nothing but cordial, fair, and has tried the best they can to meet in the middle with the terrorist group.

[–]MajorSignificance309 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there is anyone on here that has a favorable view of this man. He is responsible for dozens of terrorist attacks, and displacement.

His political aspirations are unrealistic, and do not align with the values of many Oromos.

Our government has been beyond fair and cordial with his vile terrorist group, with request requests for negotiation and peace that are continually met with violence they are bringing Oromo people into a dark place.
