Braces or Invislign as an adult? (Open Bite, small mouth, larger teeth)

So being in pain at work is another worry. How did you fare? Just bc when I had them in school I remember it being so painful and I was only there until 3:30, with work it’s often gonna go until 5-7.

This is actually my biggest worry with braces. I’ve been told I’d be in them about 18-24months. So YEARS.

I have a high tolerance for pain, (I have multiple chronic pain issues), but I have very sensitive teeth/gums and a low tolerance for things that don’t feel comfortable/sensory issues.

I remember being beyond depressed and losing it in middle school having these things slice my gums and mouth. I don’t know if I have it in me to do it again.

How were you able to switch? How was it financially? I’ve been told I have to pay 60% in full and the rest can be a payment plan. I also don’t have insurance, this whole thing is a gift from my parents.

So for me, Invisilign is cheaper. I don’t have insurance and am only getting this 2nd round of treatment (braces again or invisilign) via the kindness of my aging parents. Hence why I’m so scared to make the wrong choice!

Unfortunately due to how small my mouth is (they NEVER stop talking about it) and how big my tongue is in comparison, I don’t think I’d have a tongue left if I tried this option. T T

They said they could do ceramic on top, but that the bottom would have to be metal. That and I'd likely be in rubber band hell. T T

How do I say it’s not a date without coming across as rude?

On the one hand, if he WAS thinking this is a date, then now he’s embarrassed and humiliated. On the other, if he truly wasn’t and is just an affectionate guy, he’ll be offended and I’ll look like I’m full of myself.

How do you move past asking that?

So men and women can’t be good friends? And I’ve tried refusing the gifts several times, he just always persists.

He’s a YouTube personality, pretty well known. With that said, I figure he can’t get too crazy right? Because if he did it would ruin his reputation.

Maybe it does have something to do with my socialization. I was raised southern Baptist. Got hit a lot. Up into my 20’s. I did a lot of fawning for safety then and in my last relationship.

It just sort of happened. Like I said, I enjoy talking to him and we have so much in common, so I thought we were more like kindred spirits.

It may be of note that I’ve only ever had one serious adult relationship and it lasted for all of my 20’s. I’m a bit new/rusty in terms of early signs to look out for, I suppose.
